Keep him on the top line. Rossi can move to 2nd.
Or move them both between the two depending on which is playing better. Boldy drives the 2nd line, but the top line needs the help usually.

Rossi has proven he works there, Yurov starting to do the same, I'm fine if we keep the situation fluid for the best of the team. Lemaire wishes he could've had such center options back in the day

I don't think the second line should get broken up
Ek is an easy down the lineup move when Rossi is healthy... he's okay, but he's not driving offense... he's just not hurting it either. Rossi and Yurov put into offensive positions appear to actually help their linemates offensively more, help maintain zone pressure. Ek is more of a park in front of the net guy which is fine on the PP, but not so hot 5 on 5 when you need to cycle

Yeah, JEE to me is a 3C in an ideal world. A very good 3C, but if we stick to old school line numbers, he's definitely the guy anchoring a shutdown unit. His play vs. superstars of this league speaks for itself. 15 points in 22 games ain't too shabby either, despite looking less than stellar at times this season.

It’s almost like Tarasenko and Ek go together like oil and water go together. Yet, geniuses on this board want to put them back together :help:

JEE, Boldy, and Mojo is a weird line on paper, but seems to work in practice. Very, very few teams have the luxury of playing a guy like JEE on a 3rd line - there simply isn't that much talent in the league. Right now he is 44th in the league in scoring(he's actually higher, as the NHL lists certain players as C that aren't) - that is firmly in #2C territory offensively. IMO, he is at least top 10(top 5?) in the league defensively, further cementing him as a legit 2C.

At least our best center is still healthy (fingers crossed).
Our best defensive center who’s somehow turned into a trenin level disappointment offensively. Ek looking cooked for almost a year now is as big of a hit to this team as anything that’s happened recently

I mean , just looking at stats shows Ek pacing only 50 points for the season. Thats 3c territory. Couple that with his awful faceoff stats and I think we might be overstating what he’s currently bringing to the table

Admittedly I have only been able to watch about 1/3rd of the recent hit streak. Has Ek returned to form??
Not finishing at the level he did a few years ago but he's been a monster defensively and very good on the dot. That line with Ek and Boldy was a two-way tour de force in November.

Hopefully the offense returns , 23-24 and up until he was injured last year he looked every bit of the 70pt C we need that can be plugged in anywhere. He has skill , not sure where it went

So you just don’t watch the games. Got it.

I’m getting mixed signals here

Defensively and on faceoffs he's good, offensively he's still not. On pace for like 12 goals and like half of his points have come on the PP where he's only playing because he's big and does the faceoffs. He's like you said, a 3C. He is not back to the player he was when he had the two 60+ point seasons.

This team has a long ways to go in order to consider JEE the third line center.
