Prospect Info: Danila Yurov RW/C, 24th Overall, 2022 NHL Draft

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Think it's pretty obvious that MMG hired that Sibir player to target and reinjure him as retaliation for not signing the contract...

Apparently Magneto also did his thing to Yurov. He is out for the rest of the season, including the playoffs, according to a tweet- Pro Hockey Hub? Hope they are wrong. Is not good news for his KHL, team, or us.

Yurov is in Germany for surgery.

But word on the street is Magnitogorsk bribed the doctors to botch the procedure. If they can't have Yurov, nobody will.

Everything is going as planned.....

I should probably run that calculations before saying this but I’m at work right now, but can we afford to sign and burn both Yurov and Buium?

Is Yurov's KHL team willing to let him go before they have to (Marat K last year) or will they hold on to him until June-ish when his contract expires?

Except it hasn't really in the past for other teams. Marat K was the exception, not the rule.

Is it worth burning an ELC year for ~4 regular season games and the Playoffs?

In my opinion, yes. If Yurov looks great, I'm not feeling as much pressure to overpay for a UFA this summer. If he doesn't, I know I still need to bring in more scoring somewhere.

With Buium, maybe not as big a deal, but if he looks good then I know I can move Chisholm for something this summer. If he doesn't, I probably keep Chisholm into next year.

It's a small sample size, but at least it gives me some idea of what I have and can help direct offseason plans.

I'm not against it if it just gets it done. Yes, they get to the 2nd contract quicker, but they also get to the 2nd contract without another year to improve/add value. So kind of a wash for me.

I still go after the UFA regardless of how Yurov does. Add quality when you can and if the kids step up great, the team gets deeper and some dead weight can be dumped.

The more I think about it, I'm against it. He's coming off an injury and didn't really put up an impressive season before that. I just don't think, given the circumstances, he'll make a positive difference to the team this year.

If the threat is he goes back to the KHL next year if he doesn't get this ELC year burned, then he can stay in Russia.

Probably a moot point because I'm not expecting Yurov to be a Boldy level player for us right away. Just in the off chance that he is, all of a sudden we have a valid reason not to overpay Brock Nelson (besides all the other ones we already have)
