I am less hopeful about Tarasov as I was coming into this season but...I am certainly not counting last night's game against him. That was the perfect storm of a game to put Tarasov in if you wanted to be able to point fingers and say he is trash. The two games before this one were good and we saw late last season he had a good run (just like Elvis I think there is a decent goalie in there somewhere). I also think GMDW and HCDE will ensure he gets a reasonable share of the starts going forward as long as he is on the team this season to see whether he is trade fodder or a waive-able (non)-asset...or perhaps salvageable.

definitely not a "tarasov is the long-term answer" guy but last night wasn't on him -- it was a tired, depleted roster facing an elite team. not worth getting worked up over a scheduled loss.

that said, i was surprised that dean didn't pull him after the fourth or fifth goals. not that he was playing poorly enough to warrant being pulled, but because the wheels were coming off and most coaches would do it to send a message and wake up the team.

I think Elvis worked pretty hard the night before and HCDE wasn't going to play him unless it was an injury situation.
