Excuse me?I guess the Jets 2016-20 strategy of drafting heavily from Finland is effectively history now. Only one pick left in the fold.
Don't you dare say that to my Swedish grandfather. Even at 92 when he passed, he still would have beat you up good...Finland, Sweden....same thing

He was a swing and a miss. It happens. What happened to Torgersson? Was he a worse pick than Sutter?
I don't know about that. It's been four years since the Jets drafted Torgersson. Four years after they drafted Sutter he was playing U Sports hockey. What happened to Torgersson? Was he a worse pick than Sutter?
Ohhhhh now you've done it.Finland, Sweden....same thing

Torgersson was a whiff, it is what it is. I remember when he was drafted reading scouting reports saying he had all the tools to be a tenacious middle six winger, the question was just whether or not he could put it all together. Clearly, he couldn't.
I hear ya. It's just a bit of a crapshoot past the first round, I guess. Looking back, Torgersson was ranked as high as #27 and as low as #70 but was generally seen as a mid-second round prospect. For whatever reason his development just completely stalled and he's basically gotten worse and worse every season, which is obviously not what you want to see from a 22-year-old forward prospect. The only frustrating part about it is the trend the Jets have to take stabs at random European forwards in the mid rounds when a lot of other teams uncover solid NA defensemen with those picks.
Outside of the top highly skilled euro prospects, most of the later round guys available don't have the same skillsets to translate to the NA game that a lot of Canadian and American born players do. IMO we should be taking more stabs at them instead.
