I’m aware. The question was in his prime. Would you rather have Green on this power play? Don’t let another night of standing still on 1.30 of a 5v3 pp make up your mind lol

I like JC. I just think the combo of he and ovi on the pp makes it easy to pressure and stop. I’d even like to see Ovechkin in the bumper spot once in awhile. Teams would have to adjust and seriously the office goals are nice but the guy gets so many in tight.

John Carlson is better than Mike Green. Better on their best day. He is better defensively and offensively and his career will be far better. Already is.

I get your frustration but you are asking for things that dont matter. Put Ovechkin in the bumper makes him easier to cover. Oshie gets open in the bumper because the PK is trying to cover Ovechkin and Carlson. Put 8 there and the box just backs in on him to dare distance shooters to score. Ovechkin is their best distance shooter. Last night the Wings game plan, even 5 on 3 was to cover Ovechkin 1 on 1 and to standing in Carlson's shooting lane and go where he went. Wilson should have scored but didnt. Kuzy doesnt take the wide open shot they give him. None of this I am saying will make a difference.

You dont like Carlson and you want a different look on the pp. Lets put Ov in front of the net and let the team shoot pucks at him. What makes this pp good is Backstrom and Oshie on top of the other 3. 3 on 4 isnt an advantage

2022 Cup to Calgary
Daniel Sprong would look excellent in Calgary where there's a real deficit in players with his exact skillset... although I'm not sure there's a realistic trade to be made there. Either we'd be giving up a player still worth too much (Dube, Valimaki, Pellettier) or we'd be giving up too little to make it worth Washington's while.

I like Green because he had 31 goals in 68 games at one point in his career. That’s a lot more than any Capital not named Ovechkin in that time. We’ve been waiting for another goal scorer here to take advantage of the fact that Ovie has a shadow.

What value does Daniel Sprong have around the league? He scored at a 25 goal pace last year. I could see him being expendable once Oshie comes back. Sprong lacks the physical edge the Caps seem to look for in wingers which I believe played a factor in the Vrana trade last year. Brett Leason has looked good and has tremendous size which could make him a solid compliment to the 3rd line with Eller and Sheary once Backstrom returns.

Ovechkin - Kuznetsov - Wilson
McMichael - Backstrom - Oshie
Sheary - Eller - Leason
Hagelin - Dowd - Hathaway

Extra Forwards: Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, Garret Pilon
IR: Mantha
Sent to Hershey: Protas
Sent to Junior: Lapierre

always love the "on pace for argument."--

3 organizations since he got drafted.
For me he is a bottom 6 player and a standard inbetweener of AHL and NHL type

That same exact season Semin scored 34 goals in 62 games.... then scored 40 in 73 games the next year.

That makes him seem like quite a catch . Having had 2 kids in 2 years I was on pace for maybe 60 kids but ended up with 4. Mick Vukota had the rare natural hat trick in 1989 against the Caps. It was the 7th game of the year . That put him on pace for a 30 goal season. He finished the season with a total of 4 goals and his 600 game career with a total of 17. It’s Danny Sprong how about a prospect or a 4th round pick . His career consists of parts of 6 seasons and 34 career goals .

One season is not a career. That 31 goals was something but Carslon the last 3 years has been as good or better than Green's best 3 seasons. Carlson's 75pts in 69 games two seasons ago was better than Green's best production season. This was done with the over 30 Ov rather than the prime Ov. Carlson already has more points in fewer games career than Green and Carlson's career is not close to over while Green is retired.
This is all before we even start talking about their two way game where Carlson was on the shutdown pair with Karl Alzner for all those years and is still one of the guys that starts every 3 on 5 penalty kill. He is also far more durable and reliable.

In 2008-09 Green was 4th in scoring on the Caps and 4th in scoring in his two best seasons, 08-09 and 09-10. In Carlson's best season, 19-20, he led the team in scoring and over his two best seasons, 18-19 and 19-20, he was 2nd on the team in scoring.
