Daniel Carcillo abuse story

I don't really consider what Carcillo described to be abuse. Also you're only getting one side of the story.

Sutter got results. His style has a short shelf life but it also works.

I feel the problem with this group is they are a bunch of soft a$$ millionaires more worried about decorating their custom homes in the south bay then their job of winning hockey games. life is tough for the vast majority, someone else always has a worse boss horror story than you. Sutter was the boss who made sure the job got done no excuses. I am thankful for the 2 cups because I will probably not see another in my life time.

This group of players has been coddled more than any other group of players I can think of in any sport. Ever since 2014 it's been multiple coaches, multiple management teams, multiple depth pieces and the same garbage results. This would just not happen in the real world, sad that it's happened to our favorite hockey team.

Agree with you except for the bold. Incompetent dipshits are allowed to "lead" and run businesses into the ground all the time. Especially nowadays where it's pretty much impossible to fire someone, even if you catch them pissing in the soup.

Maybe I'm just an old school asshole but I'm laughing my ass off at the idea 0f Sutter not allowing them to eat after a game and Carcillo's completely-serious version telling of it.

Yeah, if we're going towards youth, we need a teaching coach like Murray, not an Old Yeller.

I believe that's what Sturm is here for.

The funniest part about Sutter stopping the team from eating was Carcillo saying he stopped the cabin crew from rolling out the cart by telling them the meal service was canceled. Imagine being that flight attendant.

This may seem dumb but I don't watch any sport as close as I do to hockey. Are you being serious about this part?

I'm far from an expert but I'm with him that I literally cannot think of another team sport where ownership/management bends over backwards for an entire group of players like this one. Maybe one player or two, a superstar who you're courting (in other team sports where the individual makes more of a difference) or something, but a collective core? No way.

Sutter should’ve told those assholes to eat shit, then proceed to whip them like Bobby Knight.

You could probably put Sutter, Keenan and Herb Brooks behind the bench of this collection of players and the results would be more losing. It's just way too easy to lose here and be a King player. You get to live like every other person in LA, Kopitar, Quick or Doughty could walk into a high end restaurant and 90% of the people in there either wouldn't know who they are or wouldn't care if they did. There is no media digging up stories and the media that do exist are either fringe or paid employees of the Kings who are muzzled toy poodles. There is nothing pushing these guys, there is no fear, there is no pride and there certainly is no respect for the fans and even that seems to be taking a turn fo the worse with horrid soft Talks With Teddy and the idiotic dog calendars or trying to sell anything used by the Kings, if they could peddle used stick tape they would. All in an attempt to turn your attention away from the awful product on the ice, which is supposed to be their first and most important job.

But the music is loud.

Now we can understand why guys like Sutter plays Lewis and King in spots that they otherwise shouldn't be in. Coaches have their favorites because those players actually do what coaches say to do. Except for guys like Carcillo, who I guess can only be described as a malcontent. It's why Lombardi's perfect player is Ricci. It's why he gave Richards one last chance, because he was a winner. Should've showed him tough love by cutting him out of the roster, but even Lombardi was ultimately soft at heart.

Anyway, I wish Sutter was still here, just to see if these players would even literally show up at the rink. Not the figurative, oh, looks like they forgot to show up tonight. No, the literal, oh, the team really isn't here tonight.

Sure works for Toronto the other way around, doesnt it. One has to wonder how they won anything

I don’t think the Kings best players are lazy or disabled from years of mental abuse by their coaches. I don’t even think the South Bay bubble makes them soft and immune to criticism.

The sad facts are the best players are old, over paid and no longer superstars. They’re second liners on great teams at best.

We have no superstars in their prime, and our depth is composed of various prospects, but no sure bet first liners. The cap hell is just icing on the cake.

All of this is worth it because the franchise now has two Stanley Cups. And frankly, all of this has to be expected based on the state of the roster and draft record. The only remaining, real issue is 20/4’s failure to state that the current vision / plan isn’t working, isn’t likely to work anytime soon, and that a new vision / plan is in the works. They don’t even need to state the plan now, but say something to stop the bleeding in fan interest.

I don’t take issue with casual fan fluff pieces, but sentimentality about players is hard to stomach when the product is obviously broken.
