I'm pretty sure Lacroix did a few of those start of 2d or 3d period (coach what do think? how will you adjust?...) interviews on broadcasts. and maybe a Cerny or 2
 
No biggie, hire Marty Biron to do the job! The guy's already got years of experience doing it and was pretty good, especially come shootout time.

I've always been a supporter of analyzing a sport from a bird's eye view perspective, analyzing the natural ebb an flow of the game as a whole... I hope the Rangers plan on having someone fill his role.

So what was his role ? How many teams have an assistant watching upstairs?

Williams first talked to Vigneault about the position at the NHL draft in Ottawa in June.

"He was a tough guy, a real team guy and that's what what we were looking for," said Vigneault, who says he talked to "five or six applicants about the position.

"I like the fact he's got some playing experience in the minors, a guy who's paid his dues as a player trying to make it," said Vigneault. "And he's definitely paid his dues as a coach.

I like that he's been around and gone the extra mile to try and reach his dream. I also got some really good references from guys like ([Manitoba Moose head coach) Scott Arniel and (Detroit Red Wings head coach) Mike Babcock."

Cooper replaces assistant coach Darryl Williams, who handled video duties for the team the past six seasons. Linden said Williams left the team to accept another position and stressed he was not fired.

“No, not at all,†Linden said. “Obviously, Darryl was a very solid guy and very well liked in the organization and did great work. It wasn’t our intention to have him leave.â€
