Look at the goals the Panthers score. They have players driving the net and going to the hard areas of the ice constantly, and they get there without much punishment. Meanwhile, Draisatl is still trying to score off wide angle slapshots on the outside hashmarks of the face off circle. Skinner and Bobrovsky are facing two different qualities of offense in this series.

The oilers are very clearly having an internal competition to see who the whipping boy is but don’t let the lack of scoring distract you - out of goalies who have played 20+ playoff games, only Dan Cloutier himself has a worse save percentage since 1990.

Do they dress Campbell to back up Pickard in game 4? Do they get a goalie for next season? Why does everybody insist on defending a goalie who’s been so terrible consistently?
Skinner most certainly is not the main problem for the Oilers in the SCF.

Ineffective PP
Impotent McDrai
Ceci - Nurse
Hyman/Kane/Bouchard can’t score

Skinner

Edmonton's main problem is the other teams goalie.

IMO the biggest difference in this series is Skinner when facing a high scoring chance has just failed to make THAT save.
Bob through 3 games has been excellent in stopping shots in high danger areas.

Tonight there were two goals on Skinner that had equal blame on the defensemen. Panther in the low slot and well they beat him cleanly.

Blaming Skinner for the Oilers being down 0-3 when the offence has scored... check notes... four goals in three games seems off base and it's far from the worst problem.

Yes Skinner is a below average goalie, everyone knew that before the final started. Putting the blame on you goalie when your best players... checks notes again... have three points in three games is just silly.

A better goalie might of won one of those games, but with how the team in front of them is playing the Oilers are still gonna lose the series.

It depends on who the better goalie is. Justt switch goalies and odds are Edmonton is up 2-1.

Skinner was really bad in round 2 for a while where he got pulled/lost his net. But outside of that, he's been good enough in these playoffs.

He isn't great ni the finals, but he's not the reason Oilers are losing.

Oilers have 4 goals in 3 games. Oilers should have 4 goals per game with their offense. That's why they're losing.

Not against Florida are they going to AVERAGE 4 goals a game.

Really?! You want to compare the guy you laid 2.6m to get the job done to the guy making 10m with multiple vezinas?!

Nyet

Compare the guy you're paying 12m who is claimed to be the second best player of ALL TIME. That guy hasn't even been the second best player on the sheet of ice this series.

Can they replace most of their D core? That group spits up pucks like a baby spits up formula

Goalies are f***ing weird. FLA would have easily started Stuart over Bob round 1 game 1 last year. They couldn't pay a team to take on that Rovski contract 2 years ago. Now look at us.

Skinner wins the Cup with the Leafs 6-8 years from now, guaranteed.
Bob is not the reason they lost to Vegas last season, had a lot to do with 8 regulars being missing or nursing season ending injuries than anything Bob did or didn't do.

This is such a strange and incorrect recap of that series with the Knights.

Nick Cousins ended the year as our 2LW, he hasn't even played since the 2nd round this season, and he was skating on our 4th line.

Well I know at least in game 3, there was no chance on any of the goals that was scored by the Panthers. Obviously Skinner caused one himself, but still all of those goals were point blank glorious scoring chances, and a break away by the other teams' best player.

I don’t know how someone could watch that last game and be blaming Skinner. Oiler’s defensemen were directly responsible for every single one of Florida’s goals in game 3

This isn’t true. Maurice started Lyon because he played well and was hot when Bob was out with an illness. Bob would’ve started if he hadn’t gotten sick.

Also, Zito said when he came in that he trusted Bob as a goalie and knew him from his time in Columbus. He wasn’t sending Bob anywhere.

Back to Skinner, he’s the least of their problems.

Trade Skinner and watch him flourish elsewhere, please.
Flourish? Come on. He's abysmal. Once Edmonton dumps him he's out of the league in a few years. I tried to think of a goalie as bad as him to describe his future career trajectory but seriously none exist other than the guy in the title of this thread.
