Pre-Game Talk: Dallas vs Oile-OMG IS THAT A CAT WORKING AT MCDONALDS!?!

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In regards to Holloway and Broberg, I'm ALL about the playoffs. Could give a sht about any regular season accolades at this point, as with most of us. Holloway is having a breakout regular season, but let's see if that translates into the 16 team tournament

Don't want to jinx it, but ever since Christmas, been reciting how Jeff Skinner is going to have a breakout playoff entry, in his first ever playoff run. Sure we lost Dylan and Phillip (and Foegele/Desharnais), but we also got Jeff, Viktor, Jake, Trent, Max and Kasper in exchange. Don't know about ya'll, but i much prefer the latter. Guess we'll see

Saw a stat that us and Carolina are the only top 3 division teams in the bottom half of the league's PDO (luck) standings. And then this graphic yesterday. Perhaps good fortunes could be earned and redeemed come April

Crazy that our Goals For stat fails to reflect that :(

Cataracts surgery is done. That's an experience that I'll never forget. Eyes are still recovering.

As for this game... eesh. They'll need to be at their best especially with every team around them continuing to win (except the free pass Minnesota Wild of course)

Our coach has brain damage what else does pickard need to do to get regular starts? Meanwhile Skinner wins yeah but another game where he lets in 4 or more goals.
Tonight's an auto loss, so make sure sure Pickard is ready for tomorrow night.

Sure the team feels good getting some depth scoring but Dallas is a wagon right now and I suspect they look at the last Oiler game as one of their poorest efforts post-deadline and will want to make amends. Our only hope is if Skinner channels Game 6 vs. the Stars last year or Dallas doesn't go all out as they are pretty close to being locked into that 2nd spot in the Central now with 5 fairly winnable games to follow this one even if it gets away from them.

It's really not that bad.

People outraged about the Hall for Larsson trade VS Management apologists(these really existed) derailed every single thread on the board for an entire summer and usually managed to do that by like post 10.
I did not have an HF account at that time. Glad I missed out.

Gesus fk them kings are on a heater 9-1 last 10 !!!!

Fk how we have fallen. We won't even have home Ice advantage ANY round at this rate....
I sure wouldn't have predicted the Kings improvement. But Foegele has been pretty good there and better goaltending and now Byfield is back playing good hockey and They got a couple big hit players back in there making noise. Doughty rested as well maybe a factor. he's playing better but on D Clarke makes so many interesting plays and forays. he's hard to describe in that he's unlike other D. He has the kind of moves of a smaller D but he's not small, and he has decent wingspan to create quite a lot. At this point in time I think he's better than Doughty.

Glad to hear it went well for you. Both eyes as I recall. Drawback is now you'll be able to see even more flaws with the team. lol
Yeah, why couldn't the surgery be today. Everything just screams "don't watch".

Right eye had the astigmatism fixed so it's lagging behind a bit in the adjustment process. It was only 20 minutes total but it felt like half a day. Being conscious during that is... well I'd be interested to know what my heart rate read.

For me it was just the waiting. They had us arrive before 10am at the hospital and they were so backlogged I didn't get surgery until 4pm and wasn't out until 90mins later. 6hrs of waiting, it ain't ideal...This was also just after covid when people (me) were still nervous being around hospital environments with coughing hacking people. The surgery itself I was totally relaxed. Felt kind of neat and I was visualizing it kind of detached, like thinking and feeling about exactly what they are doing and how it helps me.

It was kinda like getting a needle. Except in your eyes. The anxiety of waiting was definitely hard as they put in several drops (along with some anxiety medicine) before I actually got to go in for surgery. Luckily I only had to wait for about an hour, but I wanted it over with so bad.

Trying to stay still was super hard, but I knew things could be disastrous if I moved. The doctors were super professional though, no complaints at all. Glad it's done and over with, and I probably won't have to worry about my eyes again for a while, if ever.

I didn't take the anti anxiety medicine. Opted out, wanted to be clear and made it easier. I squirm a bit at a dentist like a root canal but this was OK. Visualizing can get you out of your head and thinking positive thoughts. I have some learned techniques, lots, for dealing with stress so its easy to sit still. you don't want to have a proctology exam or a scope inserted guess where? lol.

I just think about hot girls during things like this. Usually it works. ....Usually.

I dunno man. I picture it differently. Imagine if this was say 1996 and we were a non playoff club and suddenly we make these offersheets and the club is transformed suddenly to a playoff club. In that context you don't sit there thinking gee I wonder what this PPG star that we offersheeted and got for 2M does in the playoffs. You know you won already. its all gravy at that point. For the Blues. There is no lose in this for them, and only Win, from their perspective.

Even financially, for an owner just getting in playoffs gets minimum two home dates and possibly more and you've paid the entire Bro and Holloway contracts just with that revenue, that you probably otherwise don't even dream about this season. Plus future dividends. I wonder how many Holloway and Broberg jerseys already sold in St Loo. I imagine a fair bit.

From Oilers perspective its trying to short term cover the deficits that the org perennially creates and fill holes that the org causes in the first place through its actions. With those fills just being short term.
