At least the next three gamesI haven’t been paying any attention the last week, McDavid & Drai stilll out I’m presuming?
What This Means for You:
Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

EasySo legitimate question.
Does McDavid hit 100 points this year?
He’s currently at 90. Barring an early return or an injury setback, he’s probably playing April 1st vs VGK at the earliest.
That leaves 9 games until the end of the season. Does he get 10+ points in that span?
Skinner and Henrique both.
Nobody this summer thought we could bring back Henrique and not only did Jackson give up the $3M of cap but two years and an NMC. While assuming they could lowball our RFAs and keep them.
I want to see players who want to win the cup. Not ones that want to get paid. This heel turn on Broberg is ridiculous.
He asked for a trade because Knoblauch wouldn't play him and he was on the NHL-AHL express all year.
Then he was put in a pressure situation in the postseason and did well.
Lots of Oilers fans wanted to keep Broberg.
But since he signed an offer sheet since the Oilers front office lowballed him and coaching jerked him around for 3 seasons, he's the villain now.
Emberson was acquired for CeciYou are right, I forgot Stecher.
Emberson was acquired using the assets we got for Holloway/Broberg. You could argue we still make that trade, but he wasn't part of the organization on the day we made the decision.
pure speculation...I don't see it happening1) As I've stated (and shared our puckpedia page... here again... https://www.puckpedia.com/team/edmonton-oilers), we are only using $1.08M of Kane's LTIR. That tells me that they aren't 100% sure he isn't playing in the regular season and have a plan to deal with that if it happens.
wasn't hindsight for me, I said at the time to sign these guys, use the LTIR cap space and deal with the potential of Kane coming back in Jan/Feb then...then they would have 4 months to find room (ie make trades, send down players etc...) to fit Kane under the cap2) Even if we are using Kane's LTIR for Walman (we aren't really, but I'll concede for the purpose of the argument), HOW WAS MANAGEMENT GOING TO KNOW THAT IN THE SUMMER? That's what I mean about hindsight. They had to make the call in the summer. You are throwing shade on the decision based on hindsight.
disagree, we have Walman because of Kane's LTIR space being used3) Which part worked out???? The FRICKIN' FLEXIBILITY my friend! You don't manage based on an arrogance of knowing (at least I hope not!), you manage based on a humility of NOT KNOWING and ASSESSING RISK. Klingberg was a bet that didn't work out. Our cap flexibility ALLOWED us to place that bet AND have a contingency of additional cap if (when) it went wrong. That's WHY we have Walman.
Going to be interesting, as he shouldn't be making more than Drai right now from an Oiler perspective. But he will be offered more than that, likely more than 16.5 by other teams.I'll cue some controversy. 16.5M is a bit steep. To get that McD needs to be the undisputed top player in the league. Last couple of regular seasons he hasn't been that. Add to it that Drai who would be making less money is outproducing him, outscoring him, and has far better defensive and outscoring metrics.
This is on me. Like I said before, sorry to hijack the thread but Bowman's comments about having no regrets about not matching the offer sheets triggered the conversation, in fairness to me.You said it.
I f***ing hate this discussion. The fact that it was allowed to happen makes me furious but I am so tired of people talking about it outside it's thread. It's worse than the Yamamoto vs JP debate at this point!
Hindsight is always 20/20 anyone who remembers the last time we went to a game 7 was absolutely beaming that we kept most of the team together after last years run. In 2007 after going to the cup finals over 50% of that team never played in oilers silks again. Most people were on cloud 9 when it was announced all of the third line was being retained. And 3 million for a veteran 3rd line centre that can move up the lineup into the top 6 if needed is a very good number. Should we have matched Holloway yeah probably but I’m willing to bet if he was in Edmonton he would not be putting up the numbers he is on the blues. It comes down to the simple fact he is getting top minutes in St Louis and most likely would not be getting those minutes here. Everybody loves to cry the sky is falling, Connor won’t get even 100 points this season and the like. I point to the Pens. When they were winning back to back cups Sid was not the top point guy in the league anymore. Connor cares about one goal and one goal only now winning the cup. As long as we make the playoffs he has that chance. Let’s judge this team on the playoffs and forget about all the other garbage.Skinner and Henrique both.
Nobody this summer thought we could bring back Henrique and not only did Jackson give up the $3M of cap but two years and an NMC. While assuming they could lowball our RFAs and still keep them.
I thought he poo pooed that by saying his family pretty much doesn't live there anymore.Neither Drai or McDavid are in for tomorrow's game right? Going to be a tough one... Dallas is a solid club.
As a bit of good news, Stan Bowman displaying public confidence in a long-term extension for McDavid:

‘We’re going to make it happen’: Oilers GM Stan Bowman confident Connor McDavid will sign extension
There's no doubt in Oilers general manager Stan Bowman's mind that Con...oilersnation.com
Essentially, if McDavid decides that he needs to stay in Edmonton to win a cup for the fans, he signs... but he mentions something about being close to people he loves, so there's always that Leafs-signing threat that all my Leafs-fan friends always tell me is going to happen!
JJ spent the money on Skinner, Ardvidson and Rico. If they didn't sign Ardvidson they probably could have signed both before the offer sheet. JJ shit the bed.I still think the organization is mad at both of them for teaming up to put them in a bad spot. I think any other reason is secondary.
Still could of matched Holloway regardless. Obviously they didn’t want to. JJ did definitely shit the bed though.JJ spent the money on Skinner, Ardvidson and Rico. If they didn't sign Ardvidson they probably could have signed both before the offer sheet. JJ shit the bed.
Every f***ing thread in here lately is a Holloway/Broberg whine thread. f*** me, can we at least keep it somewhat contained to the appropriate thread???
We have the Around the League, this thread, biggest disappointment thread and then the actual whine thread all saying the same thing. Yes, it's a conspiracy by the league to f*** the Oilers and no, it is not cathartic to jerk off to pics of your ex. Half you people hated Broberg and called him a bust and now miss him like he's your 1st born. It's embarrassing.
traded a 2nd rounder for like 5 games of Fredric LMAO
