I dunno, I think if the team was built right they would be. It's all about team composition to take advantage of your top talent. This team has NEVER done that, certainly not under Dubas and Tre doesn't have the balls it seems to do anything of substance.

We need look no further than 61% of the cap going to five players. All soft, perimeter players with no heart. Can’t build a winner that way

They need a legit PMD on that power play. Until they get someone with a respectable shot from the point they aren’t going to do anything. It’s so easy, no threat up top, close out on Matthews and Nylander, PP neutralized.

Problem is Matthews and Nylander and Marner play dumb though. The don’t enter a zone with any urgency and there’s no agenda when they get settled in. Do they want to open up a defense to one side, or are they trying to set up a back door, who is the primary shooter, who is plan B? There’s literally no objective.

The other day Kyper had it right when he said what makes Tampa deadly is they like to destabilize a PK. Kucherov will slice a puck at a goalies feet, get the D scrambling and then they snap it around. Kucherov on the wall. Formerly Stamkos on the opposite as a big “kill shot”. Secondary shot in Hedman. Point in the slot.

How many playoff rounds did they win playing run and gun ? Maybe it’s the overpaid, heartless core not the coaching.
