Against any other team i'd take the Stars.. but I feel like the avs are too fast for the Stars D to contain. Therefore Avs in 6.

I'd give Dallas a 10% chance of winning this series without Heiskenen. Their defense is just too thin without him to handle Colorado. I suspect they'll get handled much like the Jets did last year in the first round with Colorado's speed and top end talent overwhelming them for long stretches at a time. The games aren't played on paper though so maybe Dallas removes their heads from their asses and starts playing good hockey again.

This is a heavy weight champion matchup. Funny to see Rantanen against his old team. I have have soft spot for Dallas, but I think it's going to be Colorado in 6.

Dallas doesn't scare me. Sure they had that 7 game winning streak, but in not 1 of those games did they outshoot their opponents. That bold strategy might work against Philly, Seattle, Nashville, but not the Avs. And if Miro is still out, it'll be a short series.

This is a perfect opportunity for Rantanen to prove to everyone that he doesn't need Nathan to produce. They likely will go head to head as much as possible.

I’m just saying, if the Avs were going to be missing Makar for the first 5 games I sure as hell wouldn’t be picking them to win this series - I don’t care what the the factors are.

It very well could go either way but, barring injuries or Nuke drugging out, I’ve got a feeling the Avs are going to handle Dallas fairly easily without Heiskanen. Dallas’ bottom three defense is absolutely horrid and the Avs forwards are too deep.

Both teams have been limping towards the playoffs.

We'll see if it's because they've been resting or if they just suck.
Dallas hasn't been limping. This car has been crashing since February, their luck at pulling out wins has finally ran out.

Avs should ice a complete team to start the series and Landeskog will make his return. They coasted intentionally and rested their star players for this series.

Dallas has two more games after the Avs regular season ends. Heiskanen is missing. They do have home ice and are a top team, but it feels like Colorado has the advantage going into the series. Anything can happen though.

Personally I think the Stars were a better match for Colorado last year when Heiskanen was hot and they had Tanev who played fantastically against the Avs and I believe was their MVP in that series shutting down Mackinnon. Without Tanev and Heiskanen I personally just don't see the Stars beating the current Avalanche team.

Cheering for Dallas, but I think Colorado takes this. The Avs have improved since their matchup last season, and Heiskanen being out (or not 100% if he plays) makes it hard for me to pick the Stars.

And if history tells us anything about Avs/Stars playoff series, it's that the Avs win in R1, and the Stars win in R2 and the WCF.

Think it will either be Colorado in 5 or Dallas in 7.

Either Colorado's offense and speed is too much for the Stars defensive game to handle early in series and the Avs go up 3-0 or 3-1 and close out being too strong.

OR, the Stars do enough to hang around and if they get Heiskanen back by game 5 or 6, things could balance out and Dallas push it the distance.

If the series goes the distance, then Game 7 at home with Heiskanen back. Could see Dallas win it.
