Dallas puts in the empty netter to make it 5-2, lose 5-6 in OT

Even after the badwill generated after our second round series in 2024, I still think the Canucks comeback antics are fun unless they happen to your team (like Game 1).

But Vancouver loses the tiebreaker to Minnesota even if they win out. They can get 93 points maximum (40-29-13) and the Wild (42-29-7 91 points) need just one win to eliminate Vancouver.

The Wild play the Sharks tonight. Stranger things have happened, but…I’d say the Canucks get eliminated tonight.

That was a comeback for the ages though. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Imagine being there as a Stars fan at 18:59 of the third. “We got this!” LOL

Comeback of the century
More incredible is the lineup for the Nucks were mostly depth players and young non-blue chip prospects. These aren't the McDavid/Draisaitl, or MacK/Makar, or Kuch/Point combo, these are Suter/Garland/Hronek. While good NHL players, they aren't the explosive offensive players you expect to generate 3 goals in a minute against a cup contender. It was truly a great comeback made even more improbable based on the roster. I'm glad I was able to witness it.

It's the biggest choke in Dallas Stars regular season game. Their first 3 game losing streak this season. If Heiskanen doesn't come back in Round 1, they might not make it to the 2nd round.

I have massive respect for any Canucks fan that refused to turn that game off and got rewarded with this result.
That leaves me out.

I turned the game off with less than two and a half minutes left when Granlund scored an empty-netter and made it 5-2 Dallas.

Two minutes and 20 seconds left in the game and down by 3! I mean, c'mon!!

I was just looking at the Canucks' schedule a few minutes ago to see when our next game is and saw 6-5 Canucks and thought, that can't be right. My jaw has been dropped for 10 minutes since watching the highlights.:laugh:

Big time cursed luck season energy that a day after pulling this off Minnesota only needs 2 points to eliminate Vancouver and are playing San Jose with Kaprizov and Erikson-Ek returning to the lineup.

And with help from JEE and his 4 goals, Minny snuffs out Vancouver's slim playoff chances.

At least they'll have last night though.

Would be nice if Dallas can rebound from such a demoralizing setback.

Avs playing possum; whomever plays them is in trouble
Why do you always have to be so negative? We both know the Jets will sweep the Wild in round 1, then easily dispatch the Avs on route the Cup.

LIke Morris Lukowich always says - "When you think so negative you will end up a pickleball player in Baltimore"

If hockey were as easy to play as pickleball that may happen. Av's resting half their team. Possum is Bednar's MO. He did it when he let the Jets win 8-0 last year in the finale!
Morris Lukowich would never go to Baltimore even if he were offered frees seats to see the O's play.

Gamesmanship implies using some sort of dubious strategy to gain an advantage. Resting players who have minor injuries because the games don't matter in the standings is not a "dubious strategy"
He is not too injured to play in the playoffs but is resting hence gamesmanship. It is a dubious thing to do since he is in line to win the scoring title. They did it to the Jets last year but paid for it in round 2.

We both know that you have already scoped out a spot to watch the parade from and you have most definitely made sure there is room for Mr. Lukowich right next to you.

Mostly a completely meaningless game for both teams. Nucks are missing the playoffs and Dallas already has their playoff ticket and series with home ice locked.

So not really that big of a deal honestly. Epic comebacks in big games are way more memorable and impressive.

Your first paragraph is wrong, Dallas will be able to challenge Winnipeg for president's trophy and first round opponent since they play them right now. This is also a big game for Vancouver still, they weren't eliminated yet then, and the team is full of young players playing for roster spots next year.

This is a historic comeback from 3 goals down with less than a minute to go. If this is not a big deal, you need to check for a pulse.

Not a big game. It's a fairly nothing regular season game.

Vancouver is eliminated and only had a mathematical chance but realistically there was none.

Yeah Dallas could catch Winnipeg. However, I think they are comfortable taking it a bit easy before the war against the Avalanche. Maybe I'm wrong on that. The Avs at least are coasting right now just waiting for the playoffs.

If you mean the Leafs parade then we will be there. I assume based on your name you are from Finland where people still think Selanne plays for the Jets.
