Say what you will but I think this matters.

The 98% odds state that Minnesota runs roughshod over San Jose tomorrow and our season is done.

But there's something to making the Wild take the killshot instead of going out meekly.

Even more so when it's such an improbable 'we aren't dead yet' comeback.

It's percentage of percentage points, but this builds a teams' sense of who they are increntally.

For a team that had such a horrendously misfortunate, strange, and unpredictable season I do think that showing heart down the stretch (minus our two best centers and Myers btw) is meaningful.

But in terms of the stat I referred to: it's not that big of a deal.

For example I looked up the stats of last 15 games for Colorado. Nathan Mackinnon who is the highest paid player on that team was the best player in 2/15 games. He was third only once and 13/15 he was outside of top three.

So advanced stats matter, but they do not tell the whole picture.

To be fair, there have been times in the past where we've seen a team score three times in a minute.

Is it incredibly rare? Yep.

Has it happened earlier in the game, at 5 on 5? You bet.

Dallas essentially put up an all-time stinker of a 5 on 6 effort late, and got burned in the end.

I'm more upset at the wasted opportunities these past few games, basically handing the division to Winnipeg on a silver platter while also finally achieving a three game losing streak.

Took 'em 78 games to do it, and what a way to get it done.

Yeah MacKinnon has played like shit (for his standards) for a few weeks now
