I don't think I'll ever see that again.
Vancouver with 3 unanswered with 1 minute left in regulation.
Avs licking their chops.
This is what happens when you trade for a guy like Mikko Rantanen, who completely mails it in night after night now that he got his big money deal...
Pretty sure this is the first time in league history a team has come back being down 3 goals with 1 min to go. At least that’s the graphic I saw last nightThis happened in a Sharks - Caps game a few years back.
....
And then a year or so later the Sharks did it again against the Canes

Should the highest paid player on the team be the best player only 19% of the time?According to hockeystatcards he has been the best player on his team in 3/16 matches played so far and has about 1 ppg. Also has fourth highest TOI on the team since joining so how is that mailing it in? I don't think your assesment is accurate.

Those stat cards are meh.Point-wise, maybe not. But Rantanen is tied for second most points (15) on his team since his first game with Dallas. Considering most of this time frame has been an adjustment period for him it seems good. So definitely not doing bad on that front.
But in terms of the stat I referred to: it's not that big of a deal.
For example I looked up the stats of last 15 games for Colorado. Nathan Mackinnon who is the highest paid player on that team was the best player in 2/15 games. He was third only once and 13/15 he was outside of top three.
One example of a bad game for MacKinnon (and Makar too)

So advanced stats matter, but they do not tell the whole picture.
Pretty wild.
The fact that they scored an ENer too, oof.
Yeah MacKinnon has played like shit (for his standards) for a few weeks nowPoint-wise, maybe not. But Rantanen is tied for second most points (15) on his team since his first game with Dallas.
