I already said Duchene's goal was somewhat "weak" but that was a fire drill from the whole team too

Clearly you saw Skinner give up 4 goals on 9 fricken shots in the 3rd, right?
The team will look like a fire drill when they see their goalie panicking in net. Why else did they play so well against VGK the last two games when he had b2b shutouts?

I really believe all of Skinner's problems (well, okay, most) stem from a complete inability to track the puck. He can't plan ahead like you're outlining because he's either in complete panic because he doesn't know where the puck is or he's frozen in place because he doesn't know where the puck is.

He is definitely trolling. He tried being a serious poster for a couple weeks near the end of the season and made a lot of good points, but got bored and went back to this schtick. Dallas didn’t show up for 40 though. They showed up for 5 minutes and we couldn’t handle it.

But xGA or GSAA are horribly flawed. It can’t tell you anything about an east west pass to a one timer or to a tap in, or even a breakaway… it’s literally a static measure based on type of shot and location. You could put Ovie in the high slot with a bucket of pucks and have him snipe from a static “high danger” location and an average level EBUG will stop 8or9/10.

It’s the movement and the getting there that matter.

GSAA Ihas zero to do with real-life goaltending because it doesn’t have the capacity to consider the things that make goaltending hard (or easy).

Never seen a goalie coach or goalie argue its merit because it’s so fundamentally flawed it’s comical.

Which is why he gets beat clean on shots from distance more than any other goalie in the league.

If Skinner has to be our guy…….the oilers entire gameplan needs to be to focused on stopping the stars from playing east west hockey. It’s Skinners kryptonite.

This is the 2nd series and team we've faced where the opponent bench are all laughing at how completely awful Stewed Skinner is. Last time we had Pickard come in and save the first round.

Worst fears confirmed that Stew Skinner great slumpbuster that he is gets a Dallas offense going that had nothing going. He even kickstarted his PP.

Duchene: "I didn't think I'd ever score an NHL goal again, thanks Skinner" That duchene goal should cause a goalie to NEVER see the ice again. Problem is theres been 50 other goals like that which should've ended Skinners career. But here we are.

What does the team do? They caved Dallas first two periods but they have a landmine in goal.

This game was pretty much a reversal of what we saw in game 1 of the Vegas series. We both thought it would be difficult for Vegas to recover from losing that game. Not sure I’m ready to write the Oilers off after one game but the doubts have to be there now and as you’ve pointed out there is no Pickard to save them this time. I don’t think the Oilers have the balls to throw Rodrigues in there, they didn’t even bother to pull Skinner tonight. So, that means they’re stuck with Stu and the knowledge that any puck headed towards their net could go in at any time if it doesn’t hit him. Here’s to hoping they can put 1 more Skinner debacle behind them. I just don’t know where the spark of hope comes from this time without Pickard being available.

He sucks in every statistical measure across the board. The stats have been acknowledged by many goalie coaches- so not sure where you are getting that from. But aside that, you can say that xGA or GSAA is flawed- and it may be- but it would be flawed for all goalies across the NHL equally. If the measure is equally applied, which it is, Skinner’s numbers would put him at the bottom of the league.
