Post-Game Talk: Dallas Does Skinner

Dallas has a good PP?
Dallas has fortune of us having Skinner in net.

Maybe you missed he first two periods but the Stars could barely even enter our zone on their PP. Their own fans started booing.

What changed everything was Stars getting one zone entry on fresh ice late on their PP, working a routine point shot that Skinner doesn't even look for and it goes in. Thats all the Stars needed to gain some confidence in a PP that was struggling in the game to that point.

Stars are a good club. I had them pegged as he third best club in the league. They might be better than that. I appreciate the Stars have a decent club, you know that.

Also Simpson was simping Stu Skinner. Was talking up saves that never happened that were blocked shots. That always annoys me somehow because Skinner getting credit that the team in front of him is deserving.

Oilers played two periods of this game just like Florida are playing. Just owning. That 2nd goal a minute into third, it can't happen.

Simpson: "Skinner was screened, theres just no way he can see that"

um, if he just moves his head and body to the side the shot is clearly going he can see it..
He did say a save by Skinner once or twice when it was no where near hit or Nurse or someone blocked it...I noticed that too.
I'm almost 180 on my SS support but I'm still not totally on your guys team. I think a couple goals were not that bad but... not that 2nd one. Yes he was screened... by about 3-4 Oilers! If you can't move around your own players then....

I thought so. I said at the time "in the grand scheme of makeup calls, that isn't the worst".

I guess my biggest issue is if you're gonna call it like that one way, call it the other way too. I mean right before the Kane high stick Hintz was literally sitting on McDavid in the o-zone.

If I'm Knoblauch I'd would've just told Kane to sit on the bench and refuse to have him skate to the penalty box before I talk to the ref there. But I'm sure that would've done more harm because Wes McCauley is a terrible person whose death would invariably make the world a better place.

Him and Sutherland are probably some of the most abhorrent people I've ever had the displeasure of knowing.

High sticks always get called if they're seen. It's almost like delay of game. Oilers have had a bunch of high sticking penalties these playoffs.

not getting "average" goaltending from Pickard either... .888 save%
luckily the Oilers scored 4.83 goals/game for him
Skinner’s had 4 games of .835 save %. Pickard is 8th in goals saved above expected in the playoffs this year- Skinner is dead last. Pickard has one the best high danger save% in the playoffs- Skinner has the worst. These two are not the same

Watch the second goal again. Watch every angle. Skinner is busy sniffing Marchments ass instead of looking around. It was Marchment and one Oiler D in front. He could have had a clear view. One angle shows Skinner face a foot from Marchments ass. Apparently he thought Marchments ass was big enough to stop any shot. jk.

Dallas scored 4 goals on 9 shots on Skinner in the 3rd.
To me that's the most inexcusable factor even despite the Oilers taking those penalties.
The goalie has to be the best PKER on ice when the team is down a man on the PK.

Stuart brigade can take off the rose colored glasses already.

Idk why you go to such lengths to kiss Skinner's boots to this extent every single time.
Nobody here is saying its primarily his fault for the loss tonight, but you're kidding yourself if you refuse to acknowledge that he was a reason for it.

The difference with other posters on here is that when Stu plays well, posters commend him for it but when he sucks, he deserves to get criticized for his poor goaltending.

You? You'll say anything to deflect blame from #74. It's rather comical to always see. Just like how you blamed McDrai for g7 last SCF even though #74 let in a weak ass GWG from Reinhart.

I wouldn’t agree with that… when he plays PERFECT people reluctantly give backhanded props.

When he plays average, he still gets picked apart… to the point that any of the goalies in here have to step in and defend the onslaught.

Tonight he was bad on goals 3 and 4… zero compete.

And then Kane and Perry put things out of reach.

Plenty of guys need an attitude adjustment

he had shutouts in the 2 biggest games of the season....learn to deal with that

Ok what about the 2 playoff games before that?

Stuart Skinner is a mediocre backup being carried by one of the best teams in the NHL. A big part of those shutouts was the team basically keeping VGK to minimal scoring chances. That's probably not gonna happen against Dallas.

I personally think Stuart Skinner's best is miles better than Calvin Pickard's best, but Skinner's worst is miles worse than Pickard's and unfortunately we see more of the latter than the former. That's just kinda who he is right now.

Nothing strange going on with this. Couldn't be anything..
