Post-Game Talk: Dallas Does Skinner

Holy hell you're agreeing with me. hehe. I thought I was gonna get tarred. ;)
I can call a spade a spade.

I usually am criticized for defending individual goals, and called a Skinner apologist… but I’m not even a fan of his. He’s… ok… sometimes… on some plays.

Tonight he was terrible…

Kane and Perry didn’t help. Both with dumbass CLEAR penalties to continue the downward spiral….

Just horrible all around for a game that was in hand. It’s like the stage got too large for those three guys and they spontaneously combusted.

Guys need to pull their heads out of 🍑

He does this all the time. Woodley said the exact same thing as you did about looking over top. So did Noodles on GYB podcast earlier in the year. This is goalie coaching

When I was playing in Bantam AA, I was the backup initially because we had a "starter" that was 6' 1" at 13 years old. Now I never poked over the top because well, I was 5' 8" I'm not seeing shit over shit.

But that starter was so tall that he often (and got into a habit of) peaking over the top of screens. You wanna know what he struggled with? Screened shots. Peaking over the top almost always makes you lose position and mobility. You straighten your legs and back, just all bad stuff when preparing for an imminent shot.

Anyways the goalie coach at the time got so frustrated with him that after we swapped roles he started smacking the other goalie with a pool noodle every time he attempted to peak over during practice. Maybe Schwartz should try that.

I mean, he did in the 2 most important games of the season
one period without a "big save" and its " OMG Skinner SUXX!!"

embarrassing

Skinner owes us all an apology

It's almost like he plays just good enough to save his job. Like just when everyone is ready to run him out of town, he stands on his head and gives us a strong performance or two to make us all think, "maybe this will be the year he figures it out." Then he pulls away that football and all of us Charlie Browns land on our f***ing heads again.

Most of us believe that. But goaltending like this alone turns what could be an easier series into a much more difficult one. Skinner doing the same thing he did in LA series, and in Vancouver series last year, and in Vegas series that we lost.

The frustration isn't just that we lost the game 1 but the way we lost and Skinner handing the Stars a W. So many times this happens. No other contender team has to overcome their own goalie.

You have to beat the other team, the officiating, and the dud you have in net.

It is easily the 3rd game he's lost single handedly this post season between game 1 vs LA, and game 3 vs Vegas. I'll give him game 2 vs LA because the entire group wasn't great, although to be fair to the group the game started with two soft GAs.

Half the games he's played you'd think he placed a bet on the other team.

Was the Kulak penalty late in the 2nd legit? On the US replay I saw no hook, his stick was too low for a hook.
Idk, i thought it was exceptionally weak in the context of how they called the game for 38 minutes, but he did get his stick in there.

The biggest thing that drives me nuts with these is the changing standard. It's like the officials get bored and just want to blow a whistle.

yeah, I remember the Oilers scoring a ton of goals in Game 1-3.....

Idk why you go to such lengths to kiss Skinner's boots to this extent every single time.
Nobody here is saying its primarily his fault for the loss tonight, but you're kidding yourself if you refuse to acknowledge that he was a reason for it.

The difference with other posters on here is that when Stu plays well, posters commend him for it but when he sucks, he deserves to get criticized for his poor goaltending.

You? You'll say anything to deflect blame from #74. It's rather comical to always see. Just like how you blamed McDrai for g7 last SCF even though #74 let in a weak ass GWG from Reinhart.

No. It’s not. Not when you gift away the first three games of a series. That leaves no room for error.

Skinner (with some help from Nurse) also sabotaged our 2nd round which lead to most of our forward group getting beat down by a massive D group that got extremely cocky after we ruined our game 1. A series that went for 7 games that should have been a sweep or 5 games at the most. The damage from that series caught up to us in the finals.

Same old suspects defending Skinner like he's their family member holy f*** lol.
Same old culprits don't realize that nobody is blaming him only for the loss, but he was a huge part of it.

At this point, these culprits must be related to Skinner or Dustin Schwartz. Skinner can crash his car into theirs, and they'd blame the car that Skinner's driving rather than the one who has his hands on the wheel and foot on the pedal.

I mean as much as I want to blame Schwartz, Pickard was more than good enough for us. We were invincible with him in net.

I'm starting to think Skinner is solely to blame for his failures here.

It's F ing CC and Simpsons fault.
Fkers

Jack wouldn't have let Dallas back in the game
Also Simpson was simping Stu Skinner. Was talking up saves that never happened that were blocked shots. That always annoys me somehow because Skinner getting credit that the team in front of him is deserving.

Oilers played two periods of this game just like Florida are playing. Just owning. That 2nd goal a minute into third, it can't happen.

Simpson: "Skinner was screened, theres just no way he can see that"

um, if he just moves his head and body to the side the shot is clearly going he can see it..

nah it's the same old tired scapegoating
he wasn't the main reason we lost...full stop
