Post-Game Talk: Dallas Does Skinner

I agree, but that's what's most frustrating. Heading into the third, message #1 has to be just stay out of the box. This isn't Vegas or LA- Dallas isn't really mixing it up physically. Several of the penalties (e.g. Perry crosschecking someone in the face) were just losing their temper.
That Perry one was so dumb. Dude needs to sit after that one. No excuse and he’s tired. Sit the old dog

I think he has Dan Cloutier stats (though the two back to back shutouts probably zoomed them up a bit), so worst playoff goalie in decades

Dan Cloutier was actually decent for a few years there. He gets maligned mainly because of that one Lidstrom goal.

Skinner is way worse than Cloutier ever was. Its an insult to Cloutier to compare him to Skinner.

I cant think of a playoff goalie worse than old Self-help Stu. Maybe Ty Conklin but MacT only ever gave him five minutes (during which he managed to lose us the game in).

How the f*** do you go 1/4 on the penalty kill. The Oilers completely dominated that game until they got 3 straight penalties. You have all season long to figure that out and you end up at your worst in the playoffs.

This feels very similar to last year. Everyone pegged us as the underdogs, saying Dallas is deeper then us, better goaltending, etc. Even though we lost game 1, I felt after watching us play we could beat them and win the series.

Fast forward to tonight's game and I feel the exact same way. We just have to play a full 60 minutes of hockey and be more disciplined and we should have no problem taking the series. Keep the forecheck going and keep hitting them and wear them down, Dallas isn't that physical. Also keep putting pucks on net, Oettinger is beatable and we had 3-4 get by him tonight that hit the post.

We won game 1 last year in ot.

I haven’t looked up the data to see if it backs up my perception, but I feel like about 70% of the penalties we take are high sticks, and often dumb/needless ones.

I love Kane, but thought he sucked tonight and that high stick started with him getting beat to the middle with slow feet forcing him to reach in for the stick lift.

The Perry one was just flat out dumb, and I’d think about taking him out for it.

If Perry doesn't do that they probably win the game. It was in the offensive zone too. What a moron. Let Dallas tie it and that was it. And he did it knowing the Oilers have a shit PK and Dallas has a good PP.

Dallas Stars doing absolutely nothing on PP for 2 periods and well into the one they had to start third.

Stu Skinner: hold my beer. I'll give them a free goal like I'm not even in the net. COMPLETELY changes everything in the game. Third goal wasn't good. Skinner who is big, real big, somehow too low. 4th goal was lol of the playoffs. It just keeps coming.

Skinner in one period handed Stars confidence in scoring and confidence on PP. You complete f***ing dope of a goalie.
Yeah the Oilers legit were about to kill off the 2nd penalty and Heiskanen throws a puck on net and scores. Even the third PP, the Stars were unable to establish zone control, but Granlund gets a shot off and scores. Only PK where the Oilers truly collapsed was the go ahead goal for Duchene, and even then, Skinner deserves some blame there.

Out of all of them I actually blame him the most on that third one.

The last one was a high sticking call with no context where Kane's stick was literally at duchenes waist.

You guys got the pro-Canada propaganda replay…

It was 1000% a penalty about a second prior to where your replay started. Very dishonest reporting. ESPN feed showed it clear as day.

The Kulak penalty at the end of the 2nd to start this all off… yeah… that one was BS.

This clip cuts out the high stick. We can be better than that. It was a genuine penalty.
Sportsnet didn't show the beginning of that angle shot. If you look at the montage after the ATB ad at 8:42:46 it will show the Kane stick up near the guys face, not sure that Perry actually high sticked his guy 180 feet from our net but it was a needless play.
