Post-Game Talk: Dallas Does Skinner

I’m 40. Sure I’m not an athlete. But the body just starts to wear down. It’s a fact and there is no shame.

Let him sit and put him back in later

Question is ? RV or skinner replacing?
I'm over 40 (by a fair bit) but I am still lightning fast. Can't skate mind you.

I think both of those guys would be a suitable replacement.

We have to be honest though. The breakdown was a team effort.

I don't think Stu even had to make a save in the entire second period. The Stars didn't piss a drop 5 on 5.

But when called upon he let in 4 in rapid succession in the 3rd. Power play or not, its wishful thinking to say "stay out of the box" in Gary's NHL where diving and head snaps get called postseason but actual penalties like the obstruction, hooking and holding on McDavid never do.

So yes, our PK needs to be a LOT better I agree, but you will note that the best PK units have goalies that make saves.

  • Sketcher go absolutely exposed all game out there, very noticeable.
  • I have no idea how Skinner was so slow getting back over on the go ahead goal. Any legit starting NHL goalie should have no issue squaring back up to the puck. He went full Stu in the third. Out swimming on a goal that easily stopped and the rest get by
  • Maybe stop a PK for once. Honestly I don't know how they can be that bad at PK after being that dominant last year.
  • McDrai not quite in sync today
I was pretty confident after the 2nd they could close it out, and they choked.

We could win the cup with him and I would still want him shot into the 3rd level of the Kenya hockey league

Yup. Win or lose, you can't trust a goalie with this low of a floor. Too bad the team didn't take that as a glaring red flag when he showed us how bad he could be last postseason and the postseason before that.

Oh it was poopy pantaloons all over the ice from many.

Sucking that bad is truly a team effort

The last one was a high sticking call with no context where Kane's stick was literally at duchenes waist.

It was at his face although in the shot I saw it's hard to say if it touched. It's on Kane to keep his stick away especially after Perry just got a penalty for the same thing.

Really dumb penalties and atrocious PK cost the Oilers the game today. There's really no excuses for those penalties and such bad PK. Skinner with some fault too I guess, but as far as I recall they didn't kill a lot of penalties with Pickard either.

Honestly the game turned out exactly as I thought.

Lost on goaltending and special teams. Lost the battle but will win the war.

Oilers never start series on time with the Vegas one being the exception.

The saving grace is we are a late series team and Good Skinner shows his face on Game 4. Until then we should play Pickard.

Oh wait.....you mean we have Bad Skinner for 2 more games???

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck.

My thoughts exactly, it's the Oilers M.O to show up fashionable late to a series. And even had they won this game it wasn't going to be a sweep. It's a best of 7, we got this.

I’m mostly just super mad right now and over reacting but losing like that can change everything.
Dallas has all the momentum in the series right now and their special teams are light years better than ours. The Oilers need to play like every single penalty is an auto goal against cause it essentially is.
Skinner turned a W into an L. Almost all by himself. Yet again. Its significant. It gives Dallas hope after having little of it the first two periods. A road W in game one is monumental. Skinner gave the game back. What a backbreaker goal to give up at start of third. Then the next one, and next one, and next one. I never wanted to see this fool back in our net again.

Whats it gonna take. The homecrowd jeering "Skinner" "Skinner". Somehow the home crowd loves this tool.

I think the shit PK is mostly on the goalie, and not just Skinner.

The PK was unplayable for the first 4 games of the Kings series (Pickard wasn’t great on it either), then kind of stabilized, then was actually pretty good against Vegas. Because we were getting the odd save.

Then Skinner decides to do his thing again. I don’t perceive the PK was getting picked apart or anything like that. Just every shot goes in.

The media keep telling us "Its Not His Fault"
