The Dallas Cowboys are trading cornerback Nahshon Wright to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for cornerback Andrew Booth.

The move comes just two days before the start of the preseason, as both Wright and Booth get a fresh start in a defensive system that may benefit each a little more.

Booth, a second-round pick of the Vikings ( 42nd overall ) in 2022, has played in 23 games including all 17 last year. He has just two career starts and no interceptions.

Wright has been a starter in practice here in Oxnard with Trevon Diggs still rehabbing from last year's ACL injury. Diggs is expected to be ready for the season opener in Cleveland. With increased opportunities, rookie Caelen Carson has been impressive with his reps in his first training camp with the team. Behind other starters DaRon Bland and slot corner Jourdan Lewis, cornerbacks on the roster include Eric Scott Jr., Josh Butler, Josh DeBerry and Kemon Hall.

A third-round pick (No. 99 overall) of the Cowboys in 2021, Wright has played in 32 games with just three starts. In 2022, he played in only seven games due to injury but returned later in the season and recorded his only career interception in a win over the Titans.

Booth, (a 2nd round pick in 2022) wasn't going to make the team, and I'm not sure Wright does either.

What a disaster that 2022 draft was for the Vikings.

That trade down from 12 was bad the moment it happened no matter who they picked and the two guys they pick are two colossal busts who don't even make it to year 3. What made it even more confusing was they passed on Kyle Hamilton to trade down and then still took a Safety, which they didn't really need. (1st round pick Lewis Cine is for sure getting cut or traded from pennies.)

Sometimes quantity for quality doesn't pay off. Even for the Lions, Williams hasn't been good for them and they knew he needed a medical RS year as a rookie as well.
