Dale Arnold is taking a break from retirement to come back and help out his old team.

Arnold, a play-by-play voice on NESN’s Bruins broadcasts from 1995-2007 before moving into a studio role until his retirement in April 2023, is returning to handle studio duties on an interim basis.

His first day back will be for Sunday’s Centennial Game between the Bruins and Canadiens.

Arnold, the only person to have called play-by-play for five Boston professional teams (the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, and Revolution), will work the pregame and postgame studio programs for the foreseeable future, per NESN.

He is being brought back to ease the workload on the current on-air staff.

Adam Pellerin has been handling hosting duties since Sophia Jurksztowicz took a leave of absence just before the start of the season. Pellerin and Andrew Raycroft will continue to split in-game reporter duties.

When Jurksztowicz announced her leave of absence Oct. 1, she wrote on Instagram, “due to personal reasons, I’m going to have to delay my season start with NESN and the team. I don’t want anyone to worry, I WILL be okay, but right now I just need to take time away from work. I’ve received nothing but support from NESN with my circumstances and I seriously could not be more grateful to be working at NESN or more thankful for all the love from my teammates.”

NESN did not have an update on her status.

Personally, I have zero inside info, but Im worried about Sophia. Hope she’s going to be ok.

I think the bigger thing here is Sophia.

But what do I know.

Im hoping that it’s not a more permanent fill in is good news.

But also the negative Bostonian in me is wondering if Dale fills in for the rest of the year and they have a better selection of potential replacements if needed after the season

I miss Sophia and if I'm being honest, I've never cared much for Dale Arnold, I think mostly for me he represents that mid-1990s-mid 2000s era of Bruins hockey which I try to forget.

It's fitting he returns again for a team that resembles those mid'90s/mid'00s squads.

What’s the big deal? Sophia isn’t coming back anytime soon. Dale is filling in the studio. Big deal. The guy retired and is helping out. WTF! he’s not coming back permanently.

I popped into Kohl’s yesterday and Megan recommended I get a new suit.

Had to try it on and the only shirt I had on under my hoodie was my VH tank.

Dave.

Easily.

Jacob has a VH 2 toddler tee.
Only Dave era for me. I left the band in 85 along with him. I also never followed Dave either. They were such a great band. Unfortunately, I only saw them once way back in 1984. They opened with “Unchained” and the show was awesome. Fair Warning is my favorite album and to me is very underrated.

I just noticed the VH II toddler tee. Very cool. That album came out when I was like 13 and I had to wait over a week to get it. Somebody Get Me A Doctor was my favorite from that. Diver Down was probably my second favorite album. Again, great band and second only to The Man on my own personal playlist.
