I don’t think that contract is moveablei guess if things so way further south for the canucks this bodes well for price of flipping MPetey, if they have to
A very good move by Dallas ? Granlund went to the Sharks as a cap dump. The Granlunds are the most mid players in the NHL. Ceci is worse than mid.A very good move by Dallas. No disrespect to San Jose but he is too good to not be on a contender in his current form.
Better let Jim Nill know so he can find the receipt.A very good move by Dallas ? Granlund went to the Sharks as a cap dump. The Granlunds are the most mid players in the NHL. Ceci is worse than mid.
This is the most Jim Benning trade since Jim Benning
Was hoping Blumel went the other way to SJ. This one looks like a loss to Dallas and another win for Grier.
Good. That's what the networks deserve. Is this gonna be one of those years where everyone does their moves before the deadline and nobody does anything the day of?

Been in a coma since the fall of 2023? Some things have happened since then.A very good move by Dallas ? Granlund went to the Sharks as a cap dump. The Granlunds are the most mid players in the NHL. Ceci is worse than mid.

Your rant is more or less irrelevant to my point. If you can find where I said, "Dallas should take on additional long-term cap liabilities", then I'll concede. You should probably look at the Stars roster and upcoming contracts before you act like you know what’s best for them.
What grand piece did you want the Stars to add that’s not only available, but makes cap sense for them moving forward? This is the last year of Wyatt Johnston’s ELC, and he’s an elite player already. They’re gonna want to go 8x8 on his deal at least. Bourque’s ELC is up too so they’ll need to bridge him. Then at the end of the 25-26 season, they’ll have to re-sign Jason Robertson, Thomas Harley, and Logan Stankoven. That’s a lot of cap to spend in 2 off-seasons.
The excuse “the cap is going up” doesn’t hold water because the players and their agents are very aware of that was well, and negotiate higher contracts because of it. So just because the cap goes up doesn’t mean salaries will stagnate.
It’s fun to play EANHL fantasy GM and pretend like everyone is available to every team and you can just slap rosters together and ignore the cap consequences for later, but it’s very detached from reality. Not to mention you seem to overvalue the late 1st rd pick that Dallas just sent to SJS. It’s a weak draft and whoever Dallas picked wouldn’t be anywhere close to helping them now. They already have a roster packed with young talent. Don’t need more
Categorizing Ceci as "useful" for a contender is a bit of a stretch.I don't think the Stars felt comfortable giving up a 1st for only Granlund which is why Ceci (who I'd value more than a conditional 4th) is included in the deal. Not too surprising that the deal was done after injuries to Heiskanen and Lundkvist. Getting two very useful players for a late 1st in a meh draft is a good get since they had the space to do so.
I hate to see both go as they provided much to the Sharks and was hoping they would be re-signed for leadership purposes. I suppose that it's still a possibility since both are UFAs but it doesn't happen too often.
