Not even being hyperbolic, this is one of the worst trades in the history of sports without the benefit of hindsight.

What was Dallas thinking? How did the owners allow it? How does Harrison still have a job?

It's one thing to trade Doncic, but that is an atrocious return. That 2029 pick could wind up 1st and it's still bad.
This^ AD is still a great player but he’s got 2-3 years max of high level ball left, Max Christie could probably start on a whole bunch crappy teams but more of a super bench player, and they couldn’t even get multiple 1st round picks. Hell!! They didn’t even get Knecht! Nico talked to 2 teams, and still couldn’t get all of the Lakers assets. It’s almost criminal how bad this trade was. If I was Nico and I could only talk to Pelinka, the first thing I’m doing is asking for like 5-6 first round picks, a bunch of pick swaps, Christie, and Knecht and that’s my opening offer not mentioning any negotiation.

It feels like Nico just wanted to get this trade done fast and took whatever offer Pelinka gave him first.

Luka :
-Is fat.
-Can't defend.
-Has only played 22 games this year and once over 70 in career.
-Will be a free agent in 2026.

I'm a Laker fan but I'm not totally sold on this deal like so many others. A first is a first and Christie could be a starter on a good team. We badly need a C and rim protector and a few other things to contend. Hey, it is a good trade but how things proceed forward will determine if the deal works or not.

Luka is also one of the top 10 most offensively talented players in the history of the sport.

The Nets got more for 34 year old Durant. Then they flipped Bridges, who is nowhere near Doncic level, for another 5 firsts.

You’ll be fine

Luka dragged the Mavs to the Finals last season when they were not the favorites to win the West
As for the Finals even if he was adpoy and super fit , Mavs would have stll been smacked by Boston. Celtics are just too deep

Anx the superstar doesn’t need to be a defensive juggernaut, we were spoiled by Jordan, Dream and Duncan being 2 way players.

But if you can surround a non defensive superstar with competent defenders you won’t have to worry.

Magic and Steph are not known for their defense but they had quality defenders around them.
Cooper, AC (also Kareem blocking shots here and there) along with good team defense, trapping
Steph had Klay and Iggy, jas Draymojd

As for rim protection, you will have to add a rim protector but he won’t have to be a 2 way star like AD, it shouldn’t be to difficult to get

Trade would be rejected in some fantasy leagues by the commissioner.

Unless of course the commissioner and owners are corrupt.

I’m not saying anything but just saying.
All leagues are corrupt. There job is to make the league the most money not give you meaningless championships.

It's a fast food burger. There's only so many places a fast food burger can go. It's never gonna blow your mind. I think In-N-Out is upper echelon fast food burger, but the problem is that Californians spent so much time hyping it up that it could never live up to that expectation.
First time I ever went to California the first meal I hate was In-N-Out and I got to say it sucked. The Fries are shitty too. Milk Shake was solid though.

Top Salaries in the NBA is getting crazy
Why are the sports whose league is based in the USA and popular mostly with American fans like basketball and baseball making its athletes insane amounts of money while other sports like hockey isn’t

The NBA and MLB have almost double the revenue of the NHL. And NBA rosters are half the size of NHL ones.

When you look at inflation from 30 years ago these players aren't richer As a whole yes but the stars are not, just more of them making better bank.

Jordan in 1997 made 33 million. In today's money that's just under 65 million.

This season Steph Curry is the highest paid player who earns just under 56 million.

To put it into perspective Jordan = GOAT.

If the NHL had huge TV deals and China/Saudi money they would have more money to waste.

Lots of hot takes in this thread. In n Out is not just the best fast food burger, it's the world's best burger.

The only thing I can understand about this is keeping it quiet because if word leaked that Dallas wanted to trade Doncic, you know how the NBA works. Doncic is going to tell teams 'I'm not re-signing when my contract is up" unless he's dealt somewhere he wants to go. Jimmy Butler is doing this as we speak and has been doing this. Any trade that isn't to Phoenix he's going to scuttle.

That said, it doesn't excuse the poor return, the justification of Davis fitting the "culture" more than Doncic does (you literally built your entire roster around Doncic - he IS the culture), and Nico Harrison still having a job.

This is the same dude who cost Nike Steph Curry. He's forever going to be remembered as a bottom-3 GM in basketball history because of this one trade.

Still can't believe what Nico Harrison did there. If I were Owner of this franchise I'd fire and sue Nico. This franchise gonna be trash and has no longterm future and thats gonna cost a fortune which the Owner's gotta pay.
