I'm thinking LeBron wants to jump ship for another shot at a ship. It makes no sense to me

I doubt it. He likes living in LA full time and a 5th ring does not change his legacy much. I believe hes already the only player to lead/win finals MVP with three different teams. A fifth ring isn't going to put him ahead of Jordan.

When he left Cleveland the second time the consensus was he was choosing his "forever home" and thats why he chose LA. He was already living there in the off season, had done some acting, owns a production company and it's obviously a great place to live if you're wealthy.

This what happens when you hire a Nike exec to run your team and not someone with actual NBA management experience.

A Nike exec who cost Nike Steph Curry, too.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jason Kidd tells the Mavs he has no interest in sticking around so long as Harrison is the GM.

Can someone explain why they did this deal with the Lakers and not make it open to all the teams in NBA and field offers
Mavs fans must be pissed
Returns would be better if other teams had a chance to make an offer

The more you hear from this the crazier it gets

Nico said Kidd didn’t know and didn’t have to know because he knows him and what he likes. Meanwhile Kidd looks like he’s ready to quit

They didn’t believe in his conditioning meanwhile trade for AD, all the reasonings for how concerned they were over Luka is gone when you trade for AD, out of all the superstar players in the league

This badly has the feeling someone thinks he’s the smartest person in the room

Mavs are going to lose lot of money because of this just to save money

Everything from Nico in his presser was beyond awkward and pathetic

I keep hearing and reading that the reason why Nico only talked to Pelinka is because of his trust with Pelinka… so we’re really going to accept that as a good excuse??? He trusted Pelinka to not make this a drama show so his thank you was gifting him a generational talent in his prime for 30 cents on the dollar??? Yeah I’m not buying that at all. NBA is f***ing rigged.

Nico is not qualified to be running an NBA franchise with such a warped way of thinking. If you are that so hard up about feelings and the emotional part of the sport you shouldn’t be a GM

Top Salaries in the NBA is getting crazy
Why are the sports whose league is based in the USA and popular mostly with American fans like basketball and baseball making its athletes insane amounts of money while other sports like hockey isn’t

Well, for one, basketball is much, much, much more popular both in the US and globally than hockey. And add to that with the exception of a few European soccer leagues, the NBA has probably one of the most internationalized fanbases in the world.

And while baseball's reach isn't at basketball's level, it does have a significant fanbase in East Asia and Latin America, so not like that's USA-exclusive either. But even if it were, MLB's also way more popular than the NHL in the US.

The biggest question is why would anyone expect hockey salaries to keep up?

we are in the day and age of these players having "Personal Teams" and they rub the organization the wrong way

russell wilson for instance

apparently Luca's team and the mavericks didnt jive like at all

mavericks: he's overweight
-
Team Luca: he's husky

i'm going to guess it had something to do with the mavs wanting another superstar in return

how many other teams are willing to trade their superstars? boston isn't trading tatum, nuggets aren't trading jokic, bucks aren't trading giannis. KD and curry are too old. that makes AD the perfect candidate. a superstar who isn't too old and is on a team willing to deal him

if the mavs had put luka on the block and allowed him to control where he goes, they wouldn't have gotten what they desired in return. luka certainly wouldn't have wanted to go to the lakers because it ended up costing him quite a bit of money
