That 11 mill cap hit might be hard for a good team swallow

Let's say hypothetically that what Biz is saying is accurate. (I know some posters here insist that could never, ever be the case)

"If it doesn't turn around soon" indicates that this would probably play out into next season. That goes into the trade deadline, and more than likely the offseason.

Which means a team would be taking on Dahlin's full $11M cap hit to start the 26-27 season, when the cap will be $104M.

Teams would be lining up to do that.

I believe it. I looked at this team in the off-season and the only thing I could think was "man, it's gonna be a rough year mentally". Being stuck in the spot that they're in can only lead to frustration for some guys.

I thought they were ready to play this year, prepared in camp and competed from pre-season. But the reality is the team just isn't good enough. With a perfect season they could battle for a wild card spot, but that's been the case the last couple years too. It's part of the process, but gets old quick.

Dahlin did the right thing if he went to Adams. There's not one player in the room that can turn this around. They need more, and the only guy who can give them that is the GM.

If I were the Sabres I wouldn’t be against a player for player trade. A shakeup of that sort might do good.
They just did that with Cozens for Norris.

For his sake, I hope it's true. In terms of Biz's credibility, I'm not sure. He was starting to gain some nice traction as the players insider before catapulting all of that credibility into the sun with the Crosby stuff

Power and Byam are both pretty bad so far defensively. At times, really bad. And rarely good.

This team has never even tried to use a defenseman who was good at defense for the past 15 years. It's all offensive PMDs, all the time.

Tage isn't a center anymore. Norris is 1C, Krebs and McCleod the other Cs, and on the 4th line we have someone playing center who has never played center before in Greenway.

That's not a team.

Kulich is almost a sure top 6 center , isn’t he ?. Krebs is garbage and McLeod a good 3rd C no ?

He's under contract for 7 more years

Plus I doubt the Sabres would move him to begin with; it would be a legit deathblow to the franchise as a whole
I somewhat agree but it also depends on who is coming back. Although I don't have confidence in Adams the right GM could build a franchise with a Dahlin trade. It did for Colorado/Quebec with the Lindros trade.

I would rather have Buffalo build a winning franchise around Dahlin I am not advocating for a trade but its not necessarily a deathblow.

What would it take to save this stud from purgatory. Do you believe Biz? He looked really good at 4 Nations and I'm sure teams would be lining up to add him.

24 years old. Year 1 of a 8 year 11 Million AAV deal.

Could Dahlin force Buffalo's hand and make it get ugly?

Well, after last night's game it is unlikely he'll want to come to Edmonton.

Sigh.

Isn’t Biz usually right about stuff?

Either way, I believe this. Dude is 6 years in and no playoffs in his career. Good for him, no reason he should put up with shitty ownership and management.

Flames offer Andersson, Zary and 2 firsts at the draft.

This offer gets beat rather easily, even if the firsts are Calgary's in 26 and 27.

There are many other players for a player for player trade. Trading your best player and not getting a better player back doesn't seem like a shakeup. It seems like a step backwards.

Can the Sabres really go that much farther backwards though?

This was posted in the Sabres thread. If anyone ever decides to say Dahlin is anything other than incredible, just look at this.

I’d be frustrated and I don’t know what the true specific roadblocks to success are.

But I wouldn’t want dahlin if he quit on the Sabres. Be the solution. They’ve given him like every opportunity and an amazing deal. I don’t get what the problem is.
LMAO. You don't want the next RoR, Eichel or Reinhart??? Who ever wins the Dahlin sweepstakes is guaranteed a cup within 1-3 years.
