Is he playing defensive defenseman type of game ? His lack of goals last 3 years is kinda concerning, one would think an excellent skater should be able to get the space to put the pucks on net and in the net sometimes

With the NHL Draft approaching, how will Daemon Hunt continue the legacy of Moose Jaw Warriors being selected in the top-end of the draft?

Big-bodied two-way defensemen will always have a place in the NHL. If Hunt can continue to fill out his physical form and develop his overall game, he could easily become a top-four minute-munching defenseman who finds time on the power play.

He will likely need years to grow, so whichever team drafts him must know going in that he will be a bit of a project. If given that time to develop in the AHL, however, Hunt could become, at the very least, a solid No. 5 defenseman in the NHL.

With injury slowing his 2019-20 season, you are taking at face value what Hunt did in 2018-19, when he was playing behind two very good defensemen. If it turns out that he was being carried by those players, he could be a bit of a missed pick if selected in the second round.

If he is taken in the third round, however, he has the toolkit to become an NHL starter. Patience will be key in his development but if all goes right, Hunt has the potential to be one of the steals of the 2020 NHL Draft.

April 2021 – With 18 games played, Moose Jaw Warriors captain Daemon Hunt continues to showcase his reliable two-way game on a young Warriors team. The 6’1″ defender currently has put up 14 pts so far in the Dub and his even-strength involvement is 33%. He’s able to move the puck effectively during a breakout out in his own zone. His goal against stat at even-strength is a bit concerning at 17 goals this season. He’s one point away from matching his point totals from last year in 10 fewer games this season and his +/- rating looks to be a lot better too from last year as well. Hunt is probably one of the best blueliners in the Wild’s system not named Calen Addison and looks to be valuable very soon. Rayan Tubeec
