Really pleasantly surprised by Hinds. A very steady presence out there, great frame, fairly fast, and can make a good first pass.

Agreed - he has been Canada‘s most consistent defender by a fair margin. I was surprised when I looked at the game sheet and he only played 17mins.

Ducks and drafting defenceman.

He started off slow after the draft, but us Ducks fans knew we had to be patient because we traded for a pick to get Hinds, so we knew there must be more than the stats show  We pretty much never trade up, so it looked like there was something our staff really liked in him - even though it seemed his production was too low even for a 3rd round. He's starting to really come together this year.

Del Mastro was picked even later, a decent pick as well. He's maybe less mobile but can play physically and defend for sure.

Hinds had a great WJC.

The more the tournament progressed, the more he was trusted by the coaching staff. On a shaky defense, he was a rock defensively.

I predicted before the tournament that a lot of people would discover and appreciate him. Reading through the GTDs and this thread, I feel like it did happen.

I still do not know if his skill level is high enough to make it in the NHL, but he sure has a NHL-ready game mentally.

Cannot wait to have him back in Sherbrooke for the stretch run!

Well we don’t need a skill dmen out of him…. We got drysdale, zellweger, Mintyukov, lacombe , luneau.

What we need out of guys like thrun hinds helleson Warren and hinds, is good support players…: not afraid to fight for space, protect the net and win board battles.

I see him as a Brian Dumoulin-like player (Dumoulin in his prime, not Dumoulin now).

I REALLY like him. I think all that remains to be seen is if his can hang in the NHL "skill wise". Type/style/IQ, no doubt in my mind.

Oh ya he might be an ideal partner for Mintyukov or zellweger down the line.

Was hoping we’d see them paired together a little during the tournament
