Embarrassing that this kid doesn't have a thread considering other players on his team already do, and Max is the clear #1 on Mount 09 who won a Natty title last year. Shows how much the social media hype plays into who gets listed on here. Sadly not much actual scouting going on.

Anyway... Offensive dman with above average defense. Great skating, great handles, GREAT shot, average vision for passing. More of a "do it yourself" rusher but he has been showing flashes of puck movement and using his teammates more this past year. Defensive zone needs cleaning up but he is a very committed and a self motivated player. His skating helps him get out of trouble in the Dzone but he can sometimes read the play wrong and get in trouble. If mount or eventually the NTDP can work on these things it might turn him into a true 2 way guy and he will have an incredibly bright future. Slightly undersized at 5'9-5'10 but he is thick and his strong skating stride works in his favor.

Definitely chances of him making NTDP next year. EASY top 3 defenseman in the east coast, maybe even top 2. I only have one comparable but he is playing u16 this year so hard to gauge correctly.

Glad he has a thread now. That Mount team was loaded last year. Yakub definitely was solid for their d core. Can't wait to see how he progresses.

It's not an official prospects thread until this right?

Also how does he compare to his team mate Diego Gutierrez?

I watched 4 of the Mount 15s games this past weekend. They are even more loaded than last year. Not sure how they lost to the Pens as that's the one game I missed.

Yakub is really, really impressive. He's really good on D and can lead the rush as well.

One area that he really impressed me this weekend was his physicality. The kid hits and the other kid goes down. Strong.

Mount has 6 really good blue liners. Berard and Semestis were the first pair but I loved Yakub and Costello as the 2nd pair. Chartier and Romano were the 3rd pair.

Costello is a lanky smooth skater who is patient and does not get beat. I hope his offensive game takes a big jump this year. Really fun to watch.

It seems like the 2009 defensive group is pretty good right now with Yakub, Roscoe, McMahon, Aucoin, Gutierrez, Semestis, Dessner to name a few
How would you rank these kids - just for fun.

I' haven't seen Aucoin or McMahon so I'll leave them out. I'd go...
Gutierrez
Yakub
Roscoe
Dessner
Semestis

I think of all these kids Roscoe is a kid with the highest upside. The kid is so big and already so good. He fills out and keeps his dexterity he's going to be unstoppable.
