The name of the game for this kid has been “progression” last year around this time, this kid was no bigger than 5’3” - he has come leaps and bounds this season from last. Flawless skater that uses it so damn well to transport the puck up the ice. Great offensive instincts and is so deceptive from the blueline, late birthday too so he has an extra year of progression before his draft season. This kid has some of the highest potential in the draft, he has the kind of game that makes you think “Makar” He is only 5’8” right now, but could still be growing, and his defensive game needs some work (needs to bulk up to clear the front of the net better, tends to jump the gun joining the rush, needs to get better battling for pucks down low) although it has come a long way from last year.

His curve since last year has essentially been straight up. Exiting young defender.

1st look at him today at 67s camp and wow.. Few things he did inside offensive blueline absolutely were Makar-ish! And still only 15 with 3 full OHL seasons before his draft. I dont usually partake in silly pastime of projecting 15 yolds BUT in this rare case Im here early to predict top 10 in ‘27 :)

I have a feeling this kid is going to skyrocket up charts for the 2027 draft - he's still 15 years-old and has 6 points and +3 in 12 games for the 67's as well as appearing in the WHC U17.

He may be the next great undersized defensive prospect (and at 5-10, 165, he's really not that small for a kid still 15) - by all accounts he is showing unbelievable poise and IIRC is already spending time on Ottawa's top pairing. He seems to be still very much on that rocket curve of development GS told us about.

Better start learning how to spell his name...

Good eye.

Slick puck mover. Really quick processing and decisions to release the puck off his stick. He's not exactly the same, but how slick he was in receiving and then making good, positive passes of the puck to teammates reminded me of what I saw from Parekh and caught my eye at this tournament two years ago. The size is still a question. Whether the defensive game and skating and offense for 5'10 are good enough for like first round will be a question, but I think it's totally fair to think it could be.

He's been on the top pairing all season long. Blues prospect Matthew Mayich is as good of a babysitter as you're gonna get in the OHl. Still, Eshkawkogan is impressive and hasn't looked out of place playing big minutes one bit.

He seems much more well rounded than Parekh. Much less allergic to contact, more consistent effort, much better positioning, much more committed to playing actual defense. Question remains if he can put up Parekhish numbers but I agree he definitely has the tools. Soft hands, elite vision, excellent skater. His puck skills are fantastic. He's extremely calm and dynamic with the puck on his stick. A crafty, toolsy player who's always fun to watch.

Back in the lineup on the top pairing today but unfortunately lost his spot on the 67's top PP unit after playing that Hockey Canada exhibition. Not his finest game either.

On the plus side he's not draft eligible until 2027 so he doesn't have to put up the big numbers just yet. Still not an ideal time for that sort of a tournament. If Hockey Canada wants to do that they should at least pause their leagues.
