Late '06 defender got into 15 games with Winnipeg as an underager and looked good in the process. He is the brother of Vancouver Canucks 2nd round pick Jett Woo. Jonas has a good motor and always wants to be in the middle of the play. He isn't afraid to be physical and has a good defensive stick. We'll see how the kid progresses going forward!

I’d say they play a similar game - Jonas is a bit smaller at this stage so he isn’t as effective physically as his brother
Is he a similar player to his brother?

Sees the ice and thinks the game at an elite level - Considering his age/size he's quite fun to watch, mistake-free hockey, makes smart, heads up plays etc. Jett clearly played with more of a physical presence which was a huge part of his game at least at this level - Some similarities to be sure but for me they're very different players.

Was mentioned by John Williams as a possible dark horse candidate on the NHL Draft Class podcast.

Anything more to know about him?

His size is a fair concern but his dad and brother are both decent sized as is his mother so someone will draft him based on his skills, compete ect and hope he grows.

Definitely worth a pick in this draft.

He's not much of an NHLer either. That is problem with D this small. You need to be exceptional to make it, not just good. If you are Barron's size, just being okay can often be enough;
Mete still had a decent NHL career - as a 5'9 bottom pair D.

Can Jonas Woo become like a Spurgeon or Ellis at 5'9? Its highly unlikely. But I do think he is better than his brother Jet Woo. Better skater/edges and processes the game quicker.

Jett Woo's body with Jonas Woo's brain would be a top 4 D.

I'll be surprised if Woo gets taken this year, not quite skilled enough and not quite slippery enough to make up for his size.
