The first 2007 born player to play games in either the AJHL or the BCHL this season. Kachkowski is a highly regarded defender that plans on going the college hockey route - if he would have told teams he’d play in the CHL; he would have gone way higher in the 2022 WHL bantam draft.
Kachkowski is a very smart player that does a great job controlling his gaps - he has an active stick that he uses to great effect in the defensive end. He’s real good at getting in both passing and shooting lanes with his body and stick. He is a great skater with both good top end speed and great acceleration both with and without the puck. He has a good shot from the point - his slap shot keeps you on your toes and he is good at shooting the puck to the net for deflections or rebound opportunities. Kachkowski still needs to fill out some more and I would like to see him develop more physicality, he has struggled with that early on in his young career - we’ll see if that comes with time.
