He should be a high selection in the upcoming OHL draft. He may not be the tallest but man is he electric when he steps on the ice. He is an excellent skater, he has phenomenal 4-way mobility where he makes it look effortless at times. He has great decision making in the offensive zone, using his elusiveness and vision to create scoring opportunities all over the ice. He is excellent on the break-out, able to break the puck out with ease, good on puck retrievals although at times gets overwhelmed and can make a bad pass. Work does need to be done in is own end, I would like to see him become stronger and battle harder along the boards, but he has an excellent stick that gets him out of trouble often.

All around a promising kid to follow moving forward. We’ll see how things play out for the kid!

Feels like we have not had a stud D to follow in Kitchener for some time. Looking forward to following this guys development.

He's going to get plenty of opportunities over the years as we have an empty cupboard in Kitch and will be relying on contributions from the kids.

Went to scrimmage yesterday and I really like this kids game. Smooth skater, aggressive offensively, made a bunch of good passes to exit the dzone. Obviously needs to get stronger but for a 16 year old I was very impressed. 2nd Dman talking in the OHL draft.

This is what I'm thinking. Loves activating up ice. Very good skater, aggressive with his offensive play because of how he skates, and has a "B" category puck game. He takes a lot of risks, so he needs to work a little on his defense, but it shows some potential. He's only 5'11, so if he can grow an inch or two and make better decisions of when to activate and when not to, he could be a first round pick. Even if not, he could at least be a 2nd or 3rd round pick because of how well he skates.

Been watching the Rangers since about 1998 and I think his game at 16 is the best I’ve seen out of Rangers D. Will he progress to be the best at 18 or 19 year old unknown of course but man the tools are there for him to be really good.

for my money Vuk was a better all around defender at 16 but Reid's got better puck skills, agility, poise with the puck etc. and far better passer/vision at same age. Looks strong on his skate for his listed size/weight as well.

Vuk defensive game was very solid at 16 and yes better at 16 then Reid. I mean probably the best defensive D at the age of 16 I can remember for the Rangers and probably a big gap between 2nd whoever that was. That playoffs he was crazy good. Forget who his D partner was but man they shut teams down. But his body wasn’t that of most 16 year olds. Reid still has time to grow. You can’t teach what Reid has already or I guess you can but it’s way harder to learn what Reid has at 16 vs what Vuk was missing at 16. Reid will get stronger and hopefully grow an inch or 2. Reid will get better on the D side although he is already very strong for a 16 year old. I just hope he grows and develops which has been an issue for Ranger players in the past 10 years but looks like we finally have a coach that can do it.

Update - Reid has developed a lot over the past 6 months. Looks mature beyond his years.

Didn't think we would be in the playoffs with this guy playing as big of a role as he has down the stretch.

As a Kitchener Rangers STH I will say that this kid is a stud. He could very well be a NHL first rounder next season.

He was just under half point per game this year and with Brzustewicz and Motew both moving on next year he will be the quarterback on the first power play.

Watch out for him.

So far so good to start this season. Reid seems to get better every single week.

Moves the puck well, impressive skating, and despite the lack of size he can battle well defensively.

He is so fun to watch. It’s hard to believe he still has 2 more years of OHL left. Going to be so dominant when he is 19. That goal was a beauty last night.

Is he going to be too small and not skilled enough for 6’0 to be a high pick? He seems right in that height and offense territory where it could become a concern.

His gap control, positioning and he has a really, really solid stick taking away pucks so often. At 17 years old he is at 1.2 PPG. Will he maintain that pace I don’t think so but even if he finishes at .8 to 1.0 that’s still very impressive for a 17 year old in the OHL. Hunter Brzustewicz at 18 averaged .84 PPG. Reid will beat that for sure next year imo. Reid’s D side of the game is already right up there with Hunter as a 19 year old. Reid has a baby face still (you would think he is 14 or 15 years old) and imo has a lot of physical strength to add to his game. In the past 20 years of watching the Rangers this kid at 17 is my favourite to watch. Eminger was good but not nearly this good at 17 (different times I understand). With this supposed to be a weaker draft I’d be shocked if Reid isn’t taking in the 1st round. He turns heads a couple times a game, very rarely makes mistakes, outlet passes in the D zone are great and boy can he skate.
