6'4, big and mobile defenseman who's playing well with Leksand's men team during pre-season. I think he will get som SHL-action for sure.

Probably time he starts getting his props. Kid is having a really good season in the SHL at 19, and will be one of Sweden’s top defenders at the upcoming World Juniors. Already has an NHL frame too at 6’4” pushing 200lbs.

His all around game is what’s going to see him be an important fixture on this year’s team. He’s shown (in the SHL) that his emergence this past summer for Team Sweden was no fluke. He wins battles along the walls, and moves the puck quickly. Plus he’s a threat in the offensive zone.

He’ll be a player to watch later this month. Good chance people will start asking the inevitable question. When does he make the jump to North America?

hi thomas

Curious as to where people view him at this point.

On the plus side, he is skating in the SHL as a 19-year-old and won a silver medal with Sweden at the WJC.

Conversely, he is averaging less than 14 minutes ice time (7th among Leksands defensemen) and had no points in seven games in Gothenberg; playing few minutes in Sweden's tougher games.

What makes you think that Johansson will turn into an Nhler? This is not Albert Johansson btw.

Nick Lidstrom had some positive comments earlier in the season.

“Anton has become more stable in his play,” Lidstrom said. “That comes with more experience and with the confidence from getting to play a bit more. I also think he’s very good with the puck, mobile, and good at getting his shots through, which we saw recently when he scored with a wrist shot.

“He’s also become more solid in his own zone, goes hard into the corners and tries to be physical. He’s progressing all the time and has a strong development curve.”
