Confirmed with Link: D - Alexander Nikishin signs 2 year ELC

Nah, it's still falling. Just for different reasons.

And again, this entire situation didn't need to happen if we had just signed him to a contract immediately.
Yup. You don’t get cute with a player with this type of profile.

Science sometimes doesn’t consider that people are not robots.

The again, if RU “agent” and SKA had not stretched it out it’s quite possible Nikishin would be signed and in the lineup already. FWIW: it’s quite possible “Rotten”berg took that delay path to poison the well a bit.

Woohoo!!! Great it is official and signed and was exactly what the front office said it was, leaving the option open because of the delay getting him over here to USA. Now we just need him to get in some games to show what he can do for us!!

If SKA hadn't delayed his release and he got terminated at the same time that Demidov did, then he likely would already be playing every game for us in the playoffs because he got regular season games to show he was good to go..... But SKA messed around trying one more time to manufacture a way to get him to stay and sign an extension and Niksihin didn't have the super agent that knows all the people to bribe to make the wheels turn faster. So then you end up with this where his Russian agent loses his cut of new deals in NHL versus KHL and the coach loses his elite #1 dman for next season and beyond. Not surprising those are the folks trying to use the media to cause an issue. The joys of the current world we live in...

I'm pretty sure Nikishin isn't happy about the situation, though. His Russian agent would have never said anything that could potentially damage his relationships with the player. It's pretty Russian way to do business when an agent says what a player actually thinks.
Why are you pretty sure? Share your insight.

I actually don’t think the Ghost play was as bad as it seemed. He thought the pass was coming as the guy to his left was driving and also thought Roslovic was helping him out. He’s not supposed to be covering the driving wing and the driving defenseman at the same time. He definitely got beat but it’s hardly proof he can’t play D or doesn’t belong in the lineup. He’s still the best pp option, he’s been productive in the short sample size.

It’s actually a pretty ironic turn of events. Roslovic beat Pesce one on one on with one of the better dangles we’ve seen against our guys on an almost identical play where Pesce thought he had help from Dzingle and didn’t get it due to a weak effort from the forward. Last night Roslovic commited the exact same error with the same exact effort in the exact same place on the ice.

I was more upset by the read he made before Nemec even got the puck. He was the closest guy to the puck by a mile but he backed all the way off - and then proceeded to get walked by a rookie defenseman.

You wanted him to gap up all the way to the far blue line with Bastian floating around ready to flank him when he’s the last guy? That’s a long way to go to hope Nemec just doesn’t make a little chip past him to the floater.

He got caught flat footed at the blue line and got walked. He neither covered the shooter or the pass. He had less ice time than Slavin has in a meaningless regular season game so if his legs were gone that’s on him too
He didn't get caught flat footed, he had to make a decision on a mini 2 on 1. Now, should be have protected the inside instead of biting on the pass? Yes. He made the wrong decision, and that split second of wrong decision cost him. But Nemec baited him into that wrong decision with a nice little fake. It was a good play, and sometimes you just gotta tip your cap. None of these guys are pylons out there.

Besides, it's not like the goal hadn't been coming; the Devils were digging deep to save their playoff lives and they were winning every shift.

Yeah, I can't remember a single offensive chance for the Canes in that 1st OT. It was going to happen eventually the way that game was playing out
