Confirmed with Link: D - Alexander Nikishin signs 2 year ELC

Dundon's biggest weakness is that he cannot accurately qualify the value of goodwill. He extracts too much on the front end and pays for it in the back end.

Or maybe it's actually his strength, and he does know the value of goodwill. He clearly doesn't think it's at all important in this case.

Disappointing, but not all that surprising. I was actually more surprised that Dundon would burn an ELC year for low short term upside.

Well, yeah, if it now turns out he's not been on board with this plan, that's disappointing. I mean, I have to assume they were on board to begin with since they agreed to practice without it being formalized, but at a certain point, it makes sense they'd want you to shit or get off the pot. Not like they actually took advantage of the whole ability to send him to Chicago thing either since they already played. This could just be some harmless negotiating through the media but get it done either way.

There is no reason at all to not officially sign the contract AND get him in playoff games. I do think the agent is just doing his job to get the current situation fixed with those strong comments and there isn't that much to worry about yet, but there's no reason to keep f***ing around here. The AHL is beneath him anyways. Hopefully it's fully resolved ASAP and we can move on.

It's gotta be Dundon, right? I know Tulsky knows how important this guy can be to the franchise, and I'm sure RBA isn't holding up any deal, so it's got to be the guy that always seems to be the issue

It they f*** this up I'm done with the team.

I'm sorry but you don't f*** the future like this. Stop playing these f***ing games all the f***ing time and do something right for once. You f***ed us with Guentzel, you f***ed us in all the other free agents last year, you aren't willing to pay market value for a goalie and if you f*** us over the fine print of a goddamn ELC it's unforgivable.

Tom Dundon, get out of your own f***ing way and get this shit done. Swallow your ego for once in your goddamn life, asshole.

VERY important to note that the dude making a big stink, Alexander Chernykh, is his Russian/KHL agent and speaking to Russian media. Chernykh isn't communicating or negotiating with the Canes at all, and is just making headlines for Russian fans who want to see him play.

His NA agent is Ryan Barnes who hasn't said a thing here.

It wouldn't be a great look, but I'm hopeful it's just a misreading of how long he was willing to keep this open ended and they'll just make it official. It's not impossible to have a minor miscommunication over that though it's obnoxious with some of the other learning curve items in the past year. Tulsky didn't sound concerned the other day about getting pen to paper when needed. Well, it's probably needed now.

Glad you brought that up. I was just wondering if that was the new representation. Could be much ado about nothing as well.

I'll get worried when his US representatives gets vocal. It makes sense why he hasn't been pen-to-paper'd yet, but they need to send him to the wolves if there's a chance he plays for them. He's traveling with the team, he's practicing. I'm not sure this isn't just some russian assets that are upset he hasn't suited up yet.

At a certain point I don't give a shit about not getting him a few games in Chicago if it means keeping the player and agent happy. Just sign the goddamn contract and end this bullshit now.

This guy basically said the exact same thing 9 days ago, lol

The comments are pretty funny and are mostly trashing the agent.

Agreed, but as is now pointed out, this may not be a guy we need to worry about and just some jackhole spouting off. I'll just let it play out rather than getting super angry about it before anything substantial happens.

Even before this agent came outta the woodworks to scream about how shitty of an organization we are I was an advocate for giving him a big playoff role ASAP. I still am and think the team should stop f***ing around with the AHL option, etc. Officially get him signed and get him in the lineup this series to see what we have for the next round. He's had time to settle in now. Yes the lack of English and being new to the system isn't ideal but his talent outweighs all that. He will be a future captain (A most likely) here and a franchise D man for 10+ years. Kick things off on the right foot.

But yeah, I'm not worried about this dude's threats. None of them are realistic and I doubt they are really representative of what the player is thinking. Dude barely knows the language they speak in a new country he's never been to before and is probably in a whirlwind. I'm sure he wants to play but I don't think he's the source of the stink here

That's not his North American agent (Quartexx Hockey- Ryan Barnes) but rather a RU agent. I wonder if SKA is exerting pressure and using this guy as a spokesperson versus Nikishin's unhappiness.

FWIW: Demidov has been quite challenged in the series with the Caps (its not Chicago he is playing against) and I'd think that the Canes are not wrong in having Nikishin practice extensively with the team before giving him a shot.

But....if Nikishin is unhappy that's up the Canes to remedy.
