Last I saw he was in Turkey getting bamboozled by nefarious ice cream cone salesmen.has he arrived yet? or spending time in Dubai
yep, about the only moderately unattractive thing about playing here (playing, not the off-ice stuff) as a defenseman would be not getting enough credit in Norris voting because "iT's ThE sYsTeM" but even that won't stand for very long if the guy is putting up video game numbers. Everything else from the coach to the overall play of the rest of the team in terms of quality and style would be a defenseman's dream.I dunno, I think the Canes might be more compelling than some give them credit for. There may be a lot of skilled forwards who don't care to play in the Canes system, but I doubt there are many skilled defensemen who would feel the same way. A quick route to PP1, pinch whenever you see fit, wingers who backcheck... what's not to like?
Maybe it's his dream to live in NYC. Or maybe it's his dream to win Cups and get paid. We'll find out soon enough.
We rehabbed the image of TDA enough for him to get that contract from Philly. Nothing more needs to be stated about our ability to maximize your earnings going forward. If I was a defenseman who felt like I wasn't getting a fair shake somewhere I would absolutely be telling my agent to kick tires with the Canes in FA to see if there is a 2 or 3 year deal to be had.yep, about the only moderately unattractive thing about playing here (playing, not the off-ice stuff) as a defenseman would be not getting enough credit in Norris voting because "iT's ThE sYsTeM" but even that won't stand for very long if the guy is putting up video game numbers. I agree with all of that. I just see a lot of posts about signing him to max deals asap to get him pinned down. Just pointing out the obvious that he’s unlikely to want that right off the bat unless we’re massively overpaying him. He likely does have some preconceived notions about living in the US and it’ll take some time to learn about the pros of being in NC. He doesn’t know it’s a great place to live aside from maybe what our Russian guys have told him, assuming they tell him it’s great. I feel we’re leaving him out of the equation in the thinking we’re signing him immediately to a long term deal. Unless it’s an overpayment he can’t say no to that would seem counterproductive from his side.I dunno, I think the Canes might be more compelling than some give them credit for. That feels a bit past optimism.Be an optimist, pay the man immediately. He has a reasonable agent that represents several Canes so go sign him to a 8 year extension.
cake auto-like.Daria, I won’t be soothed
Was listening to 99.9 this afternoon and Donnelly & Cox had similar thoughts. They both expect Orlov to be the one who slots out when Nikishin comes in for the playoffs.Ah yes, the things you do for a prospect that you definitely won't be playing in the playoffs absent significant injuries.
Don't be surprised to see him on the ice for Game 1.
I don't agree with that move. I was excited for Ghost 2.0 but he's been trash since coming back from a injury. While one can (Borsig does) argue we over pay him for his production he has been better than Ghost imoWas listening to 99.9 this afternoon and Donnelly & Cox had similar thoughts. Giving him the A for last night’s game then sitting him Game 1 seems like anti-Rod behavior.
