Confirmed with Link: D - Alexander Nikishin signs 2 year ELC

bummer if we can't see him in the regular season before playoffs but honestly NJ is a matchup I think we can afford to "test" him out in so I'm completely cool with him debuting in the playoffs, if Rod is willing to do that (which we have all wondered and are still wondering)

Is he confirmed wearing #21 here?

23 and will go by Mr. Boom Boom Russian Pronger His Iceness Protector of the Shire and Hobbits alike.

We can’t extend him till the summer, which is why I was struggling with the idea his extension is what was taking so long.

Alright. Let’s see how quick he arrives and if we can get him in a game. Unless Seravelli is now coach and he’s going to play him no matter what.
I would hope his agent was working the system behind the scenes while SKA was fiddling.

I suspect he will connect via the Middle East to USA. Then, Dundon should go use his/a private plane and parachute him directly into the Canes Morrisville practice facility.

I think it's completely believable that SKA tried to throw him huge money for another year or 2 and the negotiations for a handshake extension in the summer were playing into it a little bit. Of course it's all moot now, but I do think the hold up was SKA trying for a last ditch effort to keep him around a bit longer, but he obviously wasn't going for it.

all of the remaining canadiens games are in Canada, so demidov may have just gotten a Canadian visa for now and a US one is still in the works. The canes play tomorrow in Raleigh then are in Canada until the end of the season so nikishin probably needed to have both done. I am not super knowledgeable about this process but I imagine since he will be based in the states he couldn’t have done just a Canadian one to start with. I could absolutely be wrong though
