Thought it'd be fun to look at last years goalies and make some guesses.
1. Mrazek should still be around 50 games and a starter!
2. Vanecek should also continue to get about 30 to 40 but his career is a bit in shit right now and Askarov is coming!
3. Dostal should hit 44 or more.. he must be the clear starter now, right?
4. Rittich is in a great spot to get more games... I say 30 to 40. He started in AHL last year and worked up from a 2 way contract. Now he has a 1 way and not a tremendous amount of competition.
5. Vejmelka had a down year but I suspect he will still get around 40 games.
6. Vladar should be near 40 as Calgary is rebuilding and he doesn' thave much competition. Wolf may be the future but he's not going to start 60 games this season.
7. Patera left for the Nucks... they are in trouble. great team but their big goalie Demko is still (and always seemingly) hurt and backup Silovs is also hurt. I'll say Jiri gets in 15 games.
So I don't see any of the 7 taking massive falls. I think many will rise up (Vladar, Patera and Rittich).
On the horizon... Cajan, Suchanek, Dobes, Stezka are getting close and maybe sneak in a game with injuries?
Malek is on the right path but I think he is in Europe this season.
Who'd I miss or overrate?
I feel like Skarek is in trouble but hope I'm wrong. Malik is in trouble too (not sure if he signed with TB but he is in extraliga where he may get full time so I could be way off). Parik seems to be done.
Not sure about Vondras.
I'll guess that 8 Czechs get at least 1 NHL game next season in net. Just not sure who number 8 is. I'll pick Suchanek after the Gibson trade!
