So the U18 WCH is coming close and I was thinking what the Czech team could look like, and it looks really interesting and strong on the paper. I am gonna write down, what the team can look like below, and also write down the players potential draft round. (just for fun :D)

The * players going to draft in 2024 or 25, the draft rank is just for fun, it can be completely wrong, so take it with reserve.

So:
G
Hrabal (1-2. RD)
Dybal (3-4. RD)
Spunar (5-7. RD)

D
Dvorak (2. RD) - Jiricek* (1. RD)
Badinka* (1-2. RD) - Galvas* (1-2. RD)
Koci (4-6. RD) - Port (4-6. RD)
Bialy (6-7. RD)/ Svozil* (3-4. RD)

F
Hes (4-6. RD.) - Petr (3-4. RD) - Sale (1. RD)
Stancl (2-3. RD) - Felcman (4-6. RD) - Sprynar (2. RD)
Csabi (6-7. RD) - Benak* (1. RD) - Jecho* (1-3. RD)
Zidlicky (5-7. RD) - Fabry (6-7. RD) - Kos* (2-4. RD)
(dont know who as 13th F)

What do you think? Feel free to add/remove any player you think should or should not make the final team.

Really awesome job. Appreciate it.

There was a Dman that just left extraliga for CHL... Can't remember his name but he might help too (if he isn't listed and is actually U18)

I think you mean Marek Rocak Marek Rocak at eliteprospects.com

Or course je can be there too, I think that the four guys, Jiricek, Dvorak, Badinka and Galvas are 100% must go, and the other 3-4 will depend.

It's a nice problem to have with so many good young D. I'm quite excited about this tourney to be honest. We are pretty good in all positions and I like the coach.

In defense, I fear that Matějíček, the prototype of the Czech defender of the past years, will be nominated there. It has physical parameters and that's about it..
It would be good if someone else showed up in a good light, I remember HGC, there they played two attacks, the remaining two were more or less in numbers. I'm not sure about Benák, he's two years younger and risking some injury.. Although at U17 he was probably our best striker in the end.

Yes, Ročak. He did not play well either in Třinec or in the national team. I would also take at least Jiříček and Galvas from those born in 06, Badinka is 05 and he will definitely be there, there probably won't be room for Ročák.

I hope we are slowly shifting from the slow clunky defenders, to more modern ofensive D prototype. Really hope that both Jiricek and Galvas will go even though they are younger, but their qualities are undeniable And they are both better already then most of the older Dmans from 2005 year.

As for Benak I think he can be a very impactful player in the team even though He Is just 15. He is shaping to be a top 10 pick imo, and showing in the czech U20 League, that he has no problem playing with much older guys, so I think he will manage just fine. At least I would deffinitely take him, but I am not the coach, so we will see :D

I like Rocak's game with Rockets, I think he's improving his game, maybe not as good as lil Jiricek or Badinka tho. Younger Dmen are definitely better.

It's such a great problem to have.

In prior years our top pair would be Rocak and Port. Now we have a core 4 guys to build around that are all very good. And our 5/6 guys are still good.

I began to watch his international game since we drafted him in the import draft. tbh I don't know why he's your top pair… But I think he's more confident and willing to bring some offense now. Hopefully he could succeed in Kelowna.

I said he would have been top pair because our D have been weak for 20 years and a 4th round NHL pick would be on our top pair. Now we have all these good young D and are cutting good players (eg. Alscher at U20).

I think Dvorak and Badinka are better than Marek, but he still played as top pair D last summer.(Before the HGC) Maybe the coach staffs are high on him.

Certainly, there was hardly a single match in the national team when Rocak even came close to Dvořák or Badink. I have to say that his performances were disappointing for me, I had info from a person who works at the stadium, he saw his training sessions and he said he looked very promising. But the national team is on a different level, and there he was inconspicuous among the others. He will be a player on the edge of the draft in my opinion.

Deffinitely better, Dvorak and Badinka both have the potential to be NHL regulars, with Alscher I see that unlikely. But he can still be a good defender for Europe.

I always like my team's player, so I may be biased. But I think he plays better now with Rockets, more composed and willing to shot the puck, could play physically. But simple is small.
If he could be a late-rounder, I will be satisfied with this. Like, he's too small for a NHL Dman.

I totally agree.. I think I'm not doing a good job of explaining my point.

Threadjack!

Our U18 ladies went undefeated and play Finland for a spot in the final 4 in 30 minutes!

The Czech Lionesses have been doing very well and are on the rise. They are in the A pool for the Women's Worlds coming up too.

I haven't watched it but by 'stat watching' I'd say the Lady Swedes have been on fire as they blitzed Finland 5-1 and now Slovakia 6-1. Happy to see the Swedish ladies back and dominating like they should've been before all the controversies.

Go Czechs Go! Finland is always tough and I assume we are the underdog.

Nice to see overagers Szturc, Cech and Suchanek included.

Looks like we'll be around 10 guys in the draft if I had to guess... Maybe less.

Sale, Hrabal, Dvorak and Dybal seem very likely.

Stancl and Fiala should get taken.

Maybe Suchanek and Spunar

I'm obviously very high on Petr but no guarantee he's not the next Gut or Szturc either.

Hmm some strange rankings there, Sale 5th? Cmon, he is by far 3rd just behind Carlsson and Michkov. Šprynar only 85th in the NA? That seems too low for him imo, he can very well make the second/third round. I dont know why he is so low.

I would say we would get around 10-13 players this year, 3-4 in the first two rounds, which is pretty solid.

Also I am pretty angry that Oliver Bonk (D) chose to represent Canada and not us, he can very well be 1/2. round pick. That would be another high level defender for us. Such a shame. Really hate how many guys are we losing to "other" countries. (Fiala, Hejduk, Bonk, Kahun etc.) Man even freakin Draisaitl is part Czech (father born in Karvina). That sucks really :D

Fischer has a kid too! Looks to be a good Dman!lol

Threadjack 2... are U18 ladies were up 2-1 in third against the Finn's and then lost in a heartbreaker. Played Slovakia for 5th today and won 6-3 I believe.

All I'm saying is that I've never seen the Canadian and US players singing after a game or the Swiss and Germans or the Finns and Swedes! We are the friendliest nations in international hockey AINEC!

I know we discussed this in another thread. That after the injury, Galvas would only play for the U17 and I believed that he would get a chance in the U18 next time. I'm glad that it really is, of course I'm glad that Jiříček is there. Badinka and Dvořák, it was a certainty that they would be nominated. As it was written recently, so that we don't end up having problems soon especially with forwards, many in the NHL are not doing as well as we thought and it doesn't look like there will be any significant change in the future either, one or two forwards in the draft in the first two rounds is nothing power..:nono:
