GDT: Czechia vs. Sweden, Group B, Dec 31 2024; 17:00 EST

It's a great test for the Czechs. I think we are inflated because we have yet to play Sweden/Canada/US/Finland.

I'm pissed because finish top 2 meant avoid Canada/US and now there are a lot of scenarios where we get them in the quarter. They've had ups and downs but they are who they are.. elite. I don't like it.lol

Winning the game guarantees no North American quarter. Losing the game you might end up with one.

I say 4-3.. not sure who wins. I'll be cheering hard for the Czechs though as I'm curious if we are as good as our current standing shows.

If Sweden wins, they face Latvia.

If Sweden loses there's a lot of different scenarios depending on how USA or Canada wins where Sweden will either face one of them or Finland.

So I'm just assuming Sweden loses tonight and USA beats Canada in OT because it just seems like fate that Sweden and Finland need to meet up in virtually every tournament they're in together.

Finland
US
Canada
Latvia

Obviously Finns will be dipping to 2nd or 3rd but won't know for hours. Imagine finishing 2nd in our pool and getting US or Canada?lol 3rd place Slovakia may get a better draw.

The Can-USA game going to OT is best chance of Finland dropping to 3rd. Ends in regulation and the loser is dropping to 3rd!

Lineup is similar. No complaints. I have my bitches of course but it's working and why change it.

Line 2 is our best line. Line 3 is damn intriguing. Line 4 is great. Our 'nahradnik' is one of my favs in Petr. Line 1 has my fav on the team in Sale.

Hrabal in net. Galvas with lots of minutes. Jiricek is here! So is Dvorak. Been loving Port and Fibigr.

Win or our quarter sucks. No disrespect to Latvia because they could obviously beat us (and did here last year).
 
On one hand.. really excited to see ASP. On the other hand, hope he stubs his toe in warmup.lol

PP coming up.. our PP has not been great. I imagine the coaches have been working on it. I don't feel we have our best offensive guys out there personally. Hoping to see some new names out here as our PP has not been that good.

2 for 11 in the tourney despite all those goals.
 
Some nice shots from both units.. on a good note, both units look about equal to me. We have depth but we don't have a Kulich teeing up bombs.
 
Zidlicky with a nice look.. lost it a bit. So we're getting some chances now.. even'd out a bit after that hillarious first minute.
