Leafs needs:
A. RHD/Goalie (D must be physical D 1st)
B. 2nd line winger
As per Dubas, our 1st is on the table for a player with term (although I think that changes if Lindholm is the target)
I'll be very curious to see how Dubas manages the cap next season if he picks up a player with term or Lindholm (sign/trade). Lindholm will cost a lot (both to acquire and also to extend) and who gets moved to clear cap? Kerfoot and Mrazek? Who's taking Mrazek without making you dig even deeper in your futures?
A little context at play into the challenges Dubas has after extending Rielly:
* 14 players signed with $7.9M in cap space. Is the cap going up? Not sure but if it does, it's only going to be by $500k or $1M. So lets say $8.9M
* Lets say you are able to offload Mrazek. That's 13 players signed with $12.7M in cap space
* Lets say you move Kerfoot to clear more cap but then you got to replace him. Anyways, 12 players signed with $16.2M in cap space
* Lets say you sign Campbell and another guy in net. 14 players signed $10M in cap space? $3.5M for Campbell and $2.7M for the other guy?
* Lets say Spezza comes back for his age 39 season. 15 players signed with $9.25
* Lets say you can sign both Sandin and Liljegren for $900k each. 17 players signed with $7.5M (+/-) of cap space.
* Lets say you go with a 22 man roster next year. 5 guys to sign with $7.5M in cap space? An average of $1.5M per player.
How are the Leafs going to take on a player with term? Someone impactful?
