Current state of the Boards

I'm sure the HFBoards braintrust is tackling the problem as we speak

Is there an ETA on the fix? Desktop is basically unreadable.

Hopefully, someone is working on it. Mobile GUI has these stupid ads constantly popping up. Ads won't matter, if there's no traffic anymore. There has to be a happy medium.

Ive been meaning to ask about this, but HF uses an insane amount of memory and Im using Chrome which should be able to easily handle. It is insanely slow to load initially and that is even with ads blocked.
I've switched to brave (at least on mobile) and its like I traveled back in time a couple years with how smoothly this site runs. And cuts way down on data consumption

Soon I hope... I didn't think it possible, but I feel like I'm getting sea sick

Can confirm that the toggle width button, she does nothing on Firefox. (Sponsor, desktop, AdBlocked up the wazoo.)

Also, changing settings to see if it would help saw me switch to Dark Mode for a bit. It's unreadable, though. As reported, dark burgundy and dark blue and dark purple for user names are incompatible with Dark Mode. I'd either dump Dark Mode entirely or make better light color choices. They're doing wonderful things in the world of cyan these days...

I have been working on being more positive and turning crisis in to opportunity, aka a problem solver. This odd extra space to the left creates a previously unavailable opportunity and we should use the space wisely while we have it .

My immediate and initial ideas:

1) Pickleball court: I am often told that this is the fastest growing sport in America
2) Community garden: Everyone can have their own slice. I am sure most people will grow weed, but everyone gets to choose their own adventure.
3) A moat: It will protect the site to from hackers or invading hoards of barbarians
4) a fire pit: It will not only be a good community spot to congregate and make s'mores, but it will pacify the arsonists
5) A mural where we can post the most important pictures in hockey history

1) I'd be surprised if there was a large crossover between hockey fans and pickleball players.
2) Due to the risk of growing illicit drugs, this idea will have to be vetoed. We don't need a raid to happen.
4) Flaming is specifically listed as a violation of the site rules, so a fire pit will have to be vetoed as well.

Thus, I vote for the moat. But the real question is will we populate the moat? And if so, do we populate with actual threats, like sharks or kraken, or do we go with the hilarious route of ducks or penguins?

The moat would be filled with attack capybaras
