Crosschecks...

You guys were laughing at us and mocking us when Edmundson cross checked Simmonds full power in the face, while he was already being cross checked by another Hab from the other side.

Not even a penalty was called

That's literally 2 cross checks to his face on the same play, not even a 2 minute penalty was called on either guy.

Shea Weber also cross checked him in the face without being suspended. Chiarot had a bunch of those that went uncalled as well.

So let's relax with this stuff a little.

How many of those led to a suspension ? Spoiler, the answer is zero.

Yup those should have been calls for sure but a few crosschecks on Simmonds in round 1 does not equal going all the way to the finals on crosschecks.

As I'm only a Leaf fan, I only thoroughly remember the ones committed against us. But I remember Weber and Chiarot being absolute cross checking machines the entire run and never getting called for it.

and I bet there were plenty of threads about it and you complained and called for their heads.....so my question is why was it ok then and Hab fans can't call out a crosscheck to the head of one of their stars?

Likewise, why was it ok for Habs players to repeatedly cross check their opponents in the head and you guys taunt opponents, but you're calling for suspensions now when it happens to your guys ? lol

I think cross-checks to the head should be suspensions, but its comical when people who were cheering them on switch up when it's done against their team. All I'm saying lol.

Missed cross checks, high sticks, punches, etc missed constantly in games for all teams, just look at guys faces with cuts, bruises, etc no pen called. Not a new thing in the playoffs especially, especially when it happens around the net where the NHL historically has let a bit more physically go without pens. Won’t even comment on missed calls on both teams in all games, in the end most often missed calls balances out over 60 mins and especially in a series. My comments are in general regarding all teams, not any specific ones

There are only two penalties I understand in this game.
1. Puck over glass
2. High Sticking

The rest I take it the refs will just call when they feel like they need to manage the game to some effect. To what effect you'll have to ask the game manager .. err... referee.

I'll say this though. You could probably figure out or go down a conspiracy theory via some of the LLMs with enough data. They've admitted they manage the games and it's impossible not to introduce human bias and god forbid the league inserts bias on the refs. We're talking about big big f***ing money and money trumps everything. So if say a certain team needs a bump...

Now if I was a entrepreneur who's only goal is to get more money. I'd spend a fare bit on analyzing all this data to determine when penalties impact the game the most and when they impact the game the least. Give team X you would umm "Prefer" to win the power plays at favorable times (time of game score of game etc.). give team Y that would umm "Prefer" to win the power plays at the less favorable times. You end up with both teams getting similar power plays and it looks even to Joe blow fan.

We're humans. When things don't make sense we try to find a way to make sense. And right now NHL game management makes no sense. For the reasons you said. The NHL has put a gag order on the teams and the media is silent as a mouse. I wouldn't be surprised for reporters who have access that it's threatened in order for them to shut up and not talk about the game management err officiating.

It's probably more likely that the NHL just tries to get their hands in on what types of calls they want to focus on and that only x amount of penalties should be counted. Either way it kind of leads down the same path. They're managed to some extent we'll never understand.
