empty net is 5 on 5, unless there is a penalty.

Empty net Is a ES goal but it tends to be 6v5.

Surprising ? I guess it shouldn't be. But for Sid to do that at his age, on that poorly built team, and with those line mates. It is amazing.

Noteworthy ; 87 also leads the league in total points since the Four Nations tourney.

His linesmates are ok. If they sucked horribly Crosby wouldn’t be 1st in 5v5 points. Rakell For instance is 2nd in 5v5 goals. Erik Karlsson is third in 5v5 points among defensemen so it’s not like the blue line is bad either. Maybe a depth issue because there are definitely some gifted players around Crosby.

Not true. Even strength points count empty net points. Remove those and just look at 5 on 5.

Hagel got 14 empty net points. Crosby, 4.

14 empty net points is nuts. 18% of his points into an empty net. Not hating, I'm honestly impressed.

Not really. He also has one of the worst recorded ES SV percentages since it’s been recorded and 19 of those goals are with an empty net, 4 are when the other team pulled the goalie and 3 at 3 on 3. His 64 5v5 goals isn’t absurd when you consider the team and while his defense isn’t good, the underlying metrics suggest it’s only a bit below average
