Crosby and Kucherov are less than 6 years apart in age, every season in Kucherov's career, Crosby has played, a few "surprising" comparisons

The Crosby plays "Selke level" defense started right around the time that he was no longer contending for scoring titles. It was odd because I wasn't aware of too many Selke caliber players who didn't kill penalties.

That, and "he's just saving it for the playoffs" excuses were touted out by his apologist to justify why he was losing scoring titles when healthy to the likes of Jamie Benn.

Hockey reference adjusted stats are worthless. Unless you think Bernie Nichols 88-89 had a better season than the majority of Jagr's art ross seasons. High scoring eras are way overweighted in their adjusted stats.
Especially recent seasons with 3v3 OT and the massive jump in EN scoring, which all disproportionately go to top players.

Just a tired viewpoint. Crosby has been as bad or worse defensively for years, especially comparing Kucherov to other wings and Crosby to centers. Kucherov has more takeaways than “defensive stalwart” MacKinnon this year. Js

Not tired at all, nor is your second sentence remotely true. Also, MacKinnon is nothing really to write home about defensively either.

Jagr has 2 adjusted seasons higher than Bernie Nichols

and another with 3 points behind 94-94
and 7 points behind in 77 games
and 19 points behind in 63 games s

S what you are saying doesn't really mean anything much at all it's obviously an outlier season where Bernie went nuts with Gretzky.

I'm just wondering if you have ANY problem with the adjusted stats of Mario, Wayne and Steve Yzerman that season or is it a Bernie thing?

Never heard of some guy named Datysuk?

3 Selke's in a row where he was on the ice for 14,18 and 6 SHGA.

88 SHGA for his career.

Now the Selke is a weird trophy but crosby plays a more 200 foot game than Kucherov and it's not even really close.

Wow, I actually never heard about that surgery point. Crazy.
Yes, it's true. There are many videos with Kucherov's biography in Russian. With subtitles or neural network translation, it is easy to study. Unfortunately, there is little of this in English, but this only emphasizes that he is of little interest to anyone in the Western media.

If my memory doesn't betray me, Kuch once said he'll be forever grateful to Steve Yzerman and Jeff Vinik because the Bolts drafted him and then took care of the surgery at their own expenses. Making it possible for him to become what he's become.

Time will get us all. Crosby has a great career and is one of the goats. What he is doing at his age and team is phenomenal. Kucherov has been vastly underrated and under appreciated and is a hof player as well. Both guys are Hofs and some of the best to ever produce at their positions. Crosby didn't steal any hardware from kucherov!
