Here is the task :

Create a 29-man (yes, 29) roster, using one and only one player from each of the other NHL teams, but no Senators.

Rules : No players that have not been drafted yet (obviously), no prospects (each player picked must have at least 40 NHL games). Also, try as much as possible to keep his player to his natural position (C, LW, RW, D, G). Must have 2 or 3 goalies, at least 13 forwards, and at least 7 Dmen. Obviously you wouldn't have 29 men on the active roster, so you can specify who the extras/alternates are, but still must have exactly one player from each NHL team other than the Senators.

Also, no more than 3 ELC's (if that player is still on his ELC next season).

One last rule, this is using this season's salary cap. I was going to use the lower cap for next season, but since it is a 29-man roster, that would be really unfair. The extra roster players will still make this a huge challenge though.

Can't wait to see your teams! :)

Way over the cap... didn't read OP

This is as far as I got. Sitting at just over 51mil, leaving 21 in cap space, and 13 roster spots to fill. I might finish it later, but just imagine some of the more servicable role players in the league taking the rest of the spots.

Basically looked around for some of the better deals in the league in order to make a team strong by committee.

Rules I used:

No RFA/UFA without a contract for next season.
Use next years cap hit for player.

Not a bad team, a little weak in net, I'd probably have Holtby over Scrivens.

Here's my effort. Pretty awesome team.

Eh...I avoided using anyone that didn't have a contract signed for next year (for example Bobrovsky will get a nice raise).

my attempt only 3 EL all players with contracts next season

About 64M and wins the Cup. But I decided to take 24 players. I could probably fill out the roster with 5 more players with under 1 million in salary each to get 29 players and still be under the cap. Too lazy though.

Love the addition of Killorn, excellent young player.

Well I bet my team can take yours. Especially if I switch Nielsen for Sutter as the 3rd line C.

Whaaat?

Eriksson - Giroux - Kessel
Ladd - Bergeron - Saad
Tlusty - Sutter - Chimera
Dorsett - Bonino - Martin

Doughty - Subban
OEL - Kulikov
Brodin - Barrie

Niemi

vs.

Eriksson - Krejci - Ryan
Franzen - Duchene - Brown
Glencross - Nielsen - Read
Klinkhammer - Goc - Eaves

Keith - Kronwall
Smid - Subban
Sekera - Harrison

Niemi

The main difference is on the defence. My defence >>>>> yours.

My 2nd team would definitely challenge your team and probably win.

Your second team is real nice. I think my wingers are much better but your centre depth and goalie are better while I'd give a slight edge to my D. Would make for a nice series.

The main difference is on the defence. My defence >>>>> yours.

We both have Subban so it's a wash there. Sekera is very very underrated league-wide. Also, Keith is the #1 defenseman on a team that has gone to the WCF at least the past four years and Kronwall was the #1 defenseman for Detroit who went to the WCF this year. Pretty solid D if you ask me, other than maybe Harrison lol but he did play for Team Canada this summer so it shows they think he's more than just a scrub.

My team also has better offense. More goals for sure coming from them.
