To me he’s very palatable. I think his persona is palatable. I sometimes wonder if he tailors his prospect analysis to be palatable as well. At times I wonder whether they’re purposefully nice even if not entirely accurate or complete. If that’s the case, I don’t hate him for it.

Button landed a 19 year old Jarome Iginla for an aging Nuewy. Adding a nearly career Flame and HOf-er alone overshadows all other trades. And he drafted Iginla for Dallas previously.

Button’s a knowledgeable and engaged professional IMO. He probably can irk some people with some of his tendencies (for me, he says “significant” just way too often). But by enlarge he contributes to the brand.

You're wrong. Al Coates was the GM who did that trade. Button took over 2000 and one of his first moves was buying out MSL.

You´re right. Al Coates was the GM. I should have done some quick research. It probably changes my view on Button as a former GM - although was he not the director of scouting for the Stars when they drafted Iggy? Either way, I think he fits his role well as scout for TSN.

That's my main issue with him. He looks like he watches Colin Cowherd or Stephen A Smith for insight, which I feel is the last thing most Canadians want for hockey coverage.
have u ever watched Don cherry, or Brian Burke. Canadians love those types and I don't blame them they make great TV.

Button isn't that type of guy but I still enjoy him. Much better Pierre who has the personality of a snot nosed fully grown teacher's pet.

What I dislike about Button is he will continue to push his narrative when it comes to his draft rankings even if he was wrong on a player.

Watching his numerous meltdowns during this year's draft was entertaining after he claimed Seider was a Brandon Carlo clone the year before.

He watches the players and follows them closely for years. Disagree with him all you want (I certainly do), but he is very much qualified for the role and he does speak from the perspective of management.

He's not my favorite, but he is more qualified to do it than most. Until someone else with similar qualifications performs better (and wants the gig), what are you going to do?

I'll never forget him having Christian Dvorak as the 3rd best prospect in the world in the winter of 2016.

TSN Hockey's Top 50 NHL-affiliated prospects - TSN.ca

I like that he has strong takes and sometimes they work out. I'm pretty sure that Aho ranking would be higher than you'd find elsewhere. But sometimes I think he goes contrarian just to make a point, like watching that London team and deciding that 20 year old Dvorak was a better prospect than 18 year old Marner.

Hes awful and caters to the “flag waving, only watch b/c national pride”-fans in Canada. No real objectivity, he’s just there as an outlet for people who have no idea really. All countries have them and, sadly, they grow more and more popular for the blind flag-wavers :/

He used to be way more annoying. So what he didn't lead the Flames to glory. Not the first and won't be the last to claim that.

I don't agree with a lot of what he says especially prospect wise but I do believe he does his research. At least he can make a cogent point occasionally, more than you can say for a lot of hockey broadcasters.

Craig J. Button really loves his mutton, to the motherf***ing point you’re hundy p he’s a huge glutton.

I cant read the word significant without hearing it in Craig's exaggerated "sag-NIF-EH-cint" now. Thanks!
