Martin at 6 ?? Why Craig Button

I was hoping he is available at 7. But I would gladly take Desnoyers if he drops that far.

Martin @ 6

Love the player (2nd favourite behind Schaefer), but that's a bit high for me.
I actually don't think so as he is a guy that teams will want in the playoffs as he brings so much and titls the ice.

Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if San Jose looks at him second overall in terms of team building as he is going to have a Gabriel Landeskog + type of impact IMO.

That being said Grier and most GMS would take the larger heavier Martone before Martin given how heavy teams are doing this playoffs.

I see a lot of mocks giving Carbonneau to the Habs, is it simply because he's french canadian? Because that's lazy as hell.
I think it's because of his complete package even if his hockey IQ and top end skating might be not as high as his other skills he has a very good will make it quality to him.

Some good points. This is why... this could be one of those crazy... 2 or 3 teams in the top 6 try to trade down drafts.

Like the Hawks may secretly want O'Brien - so that he can continue to feed passes to 71 goal scoring Lardis. Lardis O'Brien Bedard could be a nightmare in the offensive end if it pans out.

However reaching like that is probably a bad business move. Unless there is Intel, that a team picking 4-6 wil take such a player.

Martin or O'Brien as this years Sennecke pick- is plausible. Maybe more with O'Brien due to a higher offensive ceiling.

I think Martin is more likely to be the big riser. NHL teams consider character when picking, and a hardworking Mennonite farmboy is basically NHL GM catnip. He's just an extremely safe prospect, and I can imagine a few top-10 teams really valuing that kind of player. Especially late-rebuild teams that already have their high skill pieces and wanna get back to winning soon.

By comparison, I just don't get the idea of picking O'Brien that high. I think he's more likely to go in the teens than in the top-5.

O’Brien isn’t happening for the Hawks. I think most people already knew he was benefitting from a good team all year while not driving play at all.

But the kicker is when Lardis got hurt, O’Brien completely disappeared. Along with the rest of the team tbf, but Lardis hard carried that team all year.

A lot of polarizing players in this year’s draft. It’s being called a weaker one but some of these kids will become good players, it’s just finding the ones

This is actually a great draft because after say 6-7 it’s wide open to the third round and these lazy scouts maybe need to find players lol
