Craig’s May List

McQueen too high, but assuming Button is doing the highest ceiling outcome projection there. Love Reschny at 13. Had never heard of Stockselius, I'll have to do a deep dive on him this week.

1) He's a late birthday and 2) He's going to be coming back from a type of injury that could very well affect the kind of player he will be going forward.
I’m just surprised given that he is already skating and the injury wasn’t as bad as first feared. He’s going to be in the top 12 on most lists by draft day IMO.

I have an extremely tough time seeing O'Brien falling out of the top-10 or going after Eklund. I absolutely love Eklund, but I can't see a team taking an undersized Euro winger over a big Canadian playmaking center.

I like how no one knows how to properly rank Russians this year. Like Limatov would be ranked around Hensler if he played in N/A.

Prokhorov (RW)
Lazarev
Zharovsky
Andreyanov
Prokhorov (G)

Would all be ranked much higher had they been in N/A. Seems like more and more as of late the Russians are becoming increasingly underrated and underscouted.

With the 3rd import slot open, think we see more of them coming over to get exposure/get on NA ice sooner?

The problem I have with a lot of MHLers is the projection in the years to come: what if their teams in the K don't give em ice time and they stagnate? I don't think the VHL is a great talent developer for the most part. Trikozov was awesome in his DY before the 2022 Draft, but he's never gotten real ice time in the K, and he's regressed in prospect status as a result. I be the Hurricanes would love to have that pick back and draft Hutson instead of Trikozov now.

Yet another weak draft for the Americans, who we’ve all be told have surpassed everyone and are now number 1. Of course Craig has to be kind and do the typical thing where the NTDP guys are all 2nd rounders, as he doesn’t want to upset USA hockey too much.

There is nothing we enjoy more than living rent free in the heads of Canadians.

Brady Martin above Hagens is absolutely brain dead
I literally can't see the logic in that. Like there's plenty of stuff I disagree with but I can at least see why someone would make that choice. But there's no reason to chose Martin over Hagens.

Ivankovic at #23 is something. Not sure a 5-11 goalie is going to get taken that high, it's not like he had a spectacular season (plus a 4.87 GAA and 0.877 SV% in the OHL playoffs). He did put up numby's at the U18's though, I'm assuming that is why Button, noted tournament overreactor, has him that high?
