With Dach going down, it's clear that we need to find a 2C that can step into that role.

Problem is that so are a bunch of other teams.

The Habs have a pile of picks, including 2 in the first round. At this point, my guess is the Sabres are looking for team attitude game changers then more picks. Besides picks, we have is vet defenseman that Sabres don't need.

So are 2 mid first rounders enough?

The teams are poor fits in terms of need, beyond my suggestion, is there something that would make sense for both?

(And please, I know every Hab player is worth half as much or twice as much, depending on solar eclipses and moon tides. Try to keep it real....TRY)

sabres aren't getting better with the current gm. pegula seems a bit reluctant to overspend. sabres taking back carey price contract could be a start, thats 10m he doesn't have to spend to reach the cap floor next season. maybe armia or savard to get habs caps compliant without sabres having to commit. toss in a 1st so it looks good and something else so it appears the sabres helped the habs accrue cap space. it can't look like the sabres want an insured contract they don't have to pay out.

I don't understand what you mean by "insured contract" otherwise....i'm driving to Montreal in a minivan to help Savard or Armia pack...

Why Habs would look to another Dach? At 7m a piece.
Not a hell of a lot of choice at what could be a reasonable price. "Could be"...

Forget Zegras, Mittelstad, etc... Another option is McT, who i really like, but he's also going through development and may not be a 70 point center.

So you can put Slaf on Cozens wing and hope they are dynamite. You arent getting that with Dach
Dach was by far, the biggest disappointment this season.

Before his knee problem last season, in preseason and seven periods he looked like he turned the corner into superstardom. Then he gets hurt and on his return, he was a shadow of his expectations.

I haven't given up on him, but as a winger. So now, we either take a chance and pray Hage is the real deal, or pro-active and land a center that will mature in the general timelines.

Trading a young C who needs some help to a divisional rival for two mid firsts in the hope that one might be as good as him in 3 years, when you're needing older and experienced guys.....

I'd say the Sabres pass

Buffalo don't want picks and I'm certainly not paying our 2 1sts for him.

Too many question marks for a 7,1M$ player for another 5 years. We already did the experiment with Dach. We are going for a more known asset.

You knew there was gonna be Sabres fans coming in here whining about how they don't want picks lmao.

Helpful tip: You can flip draft picks for current assets. You're out to lunch if you wouldn't take two mid firsts for Cozens at his incredibly depressed value.

2 1sts is a pretty good offer.

Think Buffalo will want players though or prospects close to ready.

I would ask for Hage +

Then they can just trade Cozen to a team that has the player they actually want.
